What is the best med for gerd?

My husband has a chronic gerd problem and we are having a hard time figuring out what type of meds would be best for him. We have tried many and it seems like the only thing that works is Protonix. Is there another med that works just as well and that Medicaid will cover?

How to deal with heartburn in pregnancy?

My sister is 39Wks + 3 days
Her heartburn is so bad that she cannot sleep – I know heartburn is common in pregnancy & that she doesn’t have long to go – but I don’t want her to be overtired for her labour. What can help her cope with it?

I am a disabled veteran suffering from Barrets Eusphogus, Degenerative Disc Diseases, and vericose vein issues. Since June of 1992 I have been fighting to get help, get treatment (more than the what medicine do you want). I am only 30% disabled so I have to work as well, which I dont have a problem with. I recently also have Cellulitus, which stems from the vericose vein issues, and the barrets eusphogus is from the lack of treatment for GERD. They Veterans Administration has lost my medical records more times than I can remember. Yet nothing gets done about it.
I should explain I am physical more than 30% disabled, the VA says I am only 30%, I can barely walk, stand or sit for long periods of time. As I got an answer that I should be blessed to be only at 30%, I felt I needed to explain its not by choice I am at 30% when the VA doctors tell me I should not be working, I have no choice as I have many bills to pay most of them medical bills, and the fact the VA makes us pay for our medication even if it is service connected.

I’m almost 36 weeks pregnant and I’m so miserable with acid reflux and heartburn that I just want to cry most of the time. I eat Tums like they are candy and my doctor told me to take Zantac, which helps sometimes. But, I am so tired of waking up in the middle of the night because my heartburn is so bad or I’m choking on my stomach acid. I’ve tried eating different types of food and staying away from juices and stuff, but nothing really seems to help much. Is there anything else I can do?

Pleurisy symptoms and heartburn?

Can the sharp pain symptomatic of pleurisy be mistaken for heartburn? Is it a similar pain. Or can heartburn itself be a symptom of pleurisy?

Can energy drinks cause heartburn?

I sometimes get heartburn whenever I drink 5 hour energy drink. I think it’s heartburn, my throat feels a little acidy and I started belching.
