for the past week i have felt like i have a lump in my throat.. i found out that i have gerd and its really bad i cant really eat anything i am on medicine to make the lump feeling go away. im worried that ill be losing weight when i don’t really need to be.. i found out that im going to have to be on this Gerd diet or acid reflex diet.. where i can’t eat any type of fried foods, salad dressing, mayo or mustered and cheese… so i pretty much can’t eat anything i used to eat..im just wanting to know if this is going to cause a lot of weight loss or if ill be okay?
thanks.

I did not realise, that my sensation was not right, until after treatment, I start feeling better. Every morning I felt bloated, my eyes where greyish – red, burnning and I was fighting to stop my hair felling out. Just about every day I had heartburn. I just wonder what else in my body is affected. If there is any one who can educate me please.

I was eating chips and salsa in a restaurant a few years ago, and one larger chunk of tomato burned my throat and stomach on the way down. I have more or less had heartburn ever since. What can I do about it? I have tried Tums, fasting, and yogurt. Thanks.

it feels like i just dry swallowed a pill sometimes, and others it feels like my chest is being torn apart right under my sternum. the pain comes in waves, and every time i swallow or breath heavily. it is so bad my eyes water. it has lasted 6 days and has gotten progressively worse. it is not as bad when i am sitting. wtf is wrong with me!?!?! o.O
no i dont get weird tastes, but when i burp it seems to make the pain go away. they arent "wet" though.

I have had 2 c-sections. My 1st child is 8 and my second is 2. I noticed I all of a sudden had bad reflux/Gerd/heartburn shortly after having my 1st c-section. It is worse now after my 2nd. I am trying to figure out if there is higher incidence of GERD in women who have had C-sections or if the timing is just coincidental. Thank you.

I have a feeling that i may be pregnant but just haven’t got round to taking a test yet. I have suffered severe heartburn, dizziness and slight nausea in the past 4 days. I know that nausea is a common pregnancy symptom, but it is normal to have heartburn this early on in pregnancy? I would be two weeks maximum! Any advise would be gratefully received!!

I’ve been dealing with GERD dietary restrictions for a fair few months now, and so far I’ve managed to adjust to most of issues regarding it. My system is about as delicate as can be – I’m talking the crackers and croutons in a salad, with light vinaigrette dressing (the gentlest I’m aware of), is known to give me some issues. So does the yeast and dairy in cookies – so, quite literally, the ‘try a little and see if it hurts’ rule doesn’t apply at all as forbidden is forbidden for me.
I’m not entirely sure in regards to some spices, however – season all, a kind of salt commonly used for seasoning meat, seems to be alright if not over-used, however the addition of garlic salt is questionable to me. I also rather enjoy cinnamon sugar concoctions, yet I can’t find any information in regards to cinnamon.

How do I get rid of acid reflux and heartburn without drugs? I’m worried about hiatal hernia, ulcers, bile reflux and other complications of acid reflux… I have severe heartburn and possibly acid reflux disease. I do not want to start the horrible, harmful drugs and antacids, as I’ve heard that they can actually worsen my acid reflux over time. I’m looking for a natural cure or remedy that will not only stop the heartburn and acid reflux, but also something that will cure it forever??? Is it possible to naturally treat acid reflux or are the treatments always drugs?

I know that milk causes it, and i’ve seen heartburn diets that contain "fat free" milk. Should this kind of milk not cause heartburn? I thought the calcium in it was the trigger.I love cereal, but not if it hurts after i eat it.

I’ve been on Nexium for 1 month now for treatment of GERD, and over the course of that month, I gained 5 pounds. I am 5′3" and went from 104 pounds to 109 pounds… big frigging deal. However, I did mention it to my GI doctor just to let him/her (whatever it is … it’s a f u c k i n g transvestite/d y k e) know what was going on…… S/he said that Nexium could NEVER cause weight gain (lmao, s/he needs to check again… it is one of the most common side effects), and said that I NEED TO GO TO THE OBESITY CLINIC?!!?! Are you kidding me?!!?! I’m borderline UNDERWEIGHT!!!!!!!
What would you do if this were you? I already told him/her to go f u c k itself, but I’m not sure what else to do. S/he won’t listen to anything I say and keeps insisting that I have an upper endoscopy (even though I already had an upper GI that was 100% normal aside from the reflux that they could see happening during the test), or she will "tell on me" to my primary care doctor!!! What do I do?!?!?
She also told me to call the pharmacist and then get back to her after I asked him why Zantac interacts with Biaxin (an antibiotic — the Zantac blocks the absorption of Biaxin), yet Nexium doesn’t. Um, here’s an idea: maybe it is because one is an antacid and the other is a PPI!?!!? Nah, that couldn’t be it. The pharmacist was laughing and was like, "S/he didn’t know that?" It’s not funny though. S/he is running all sorts of outrageous tests (which I am now refusing), and s/he doesn’t know his/her ass from his/her elbow.
Thanks for any help! I’ll pick a best answer TODAY!!!!!
Read from all of the people who had weight gain:
http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=21153&name=NEXIUM
And then some stuff halfway down this page:
http://www.askdocweb.com/nexium2.html
Here it is classified as a "WEIGHT GAIN DRUG":

I can’t drink caffeine. Will caffeine pills hurt my stomach?
Uh Oh! I just talked to my doctor and he said for now I would need to take a cold shower in the morning to wake up. No coffee. He thinks I might have gallstones!
