How long does heartburn usually last for?

I keep getting these heart pains after I eat…either that or when I go without eating longer than I should.
It hurts directly over my heart, (on the chest) and directly below it, around the bottom and in the middle of the left section (obviously left, but I can’t leave that part out).

I don’t know if it’s heartburn. I never eat anything spicy or hot. All I eat is chicken, vegetables, or whole wheat stuff. I don’t eat ribs or pizza or anything like that.

But these pains last for hours..sometimes an entire day, and lately I actually feel, but very rarely, pains up in my left shoulder.
Sometimes I’m like "SHH***** THAT HURT" but it’s only for like 2 seconds.

It’s been pretty recent, and I know many of you say "why would you not just go to a doc?" Well…I don’t have insurance, and I might as well ask if it’s heartburn first before I go spending money.

I’m twenty, 4 to 6 % body fat..I do exercise and I NEVER eat anything bad for me.Could this be heartburn if I don’t eat bad?
I forgot about stress…thanks Melissa.
I am stressed as all S***
So that would probably explain it. but..then ..even after I calm down..and relax, it’ll still occur for hours until I go to bed..and still be there when I wake up? Is it normal for it to last this long?

When did you start to get heartburn?

Was it when you were further along, or early on? I for some reason have been having noticeably BAD heartburn (not even eating anything outta the ordinary) and if I could just get a dang positive I would be 4 weeks, 6 days along.

Has anyone had heartburn early on like that?

There is nothing in the drug information sheet about Clindamycin causing heartburn. I know that some other people have reported it though. I’ve been taking it for almost a week, and the heartburn is unbearable. It is the worst heartburn of my life, and gets so bad it feels like I can’t swallow at all. Today is my last day for this medication, but I know the effects can continue even after you’ve stopped it. Has anyone else experienced this, and what do you suggest? I’ve tried taking it with and without food and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Drinking clear soda like Sprite only makes it hurt worse, as the bubbles seem to get stuck down in my esophagus and it’s hard to burp. I’m seeing my Dr tomorrow, so please don’t just say "call your doctor". I would like to know if anybody else actually experienced the same thing, and what happened for you?

Is it possible for me to have GERD?

(Gastroesophageal reflux disease)
Both my brother and mother have it and I think that I have symptoms such as difficulty swallowing and chest pains/slight heartburn after meals. I’m not sure if I have it and I don’t want to assume that I do.

Are there key symptoms that help differentiate them? I’ve heard that heartburns/chest pains have similar symptoms to a mild heart attack, but before going on to assume anything, is there a way to tell the difference between them? In other words, how do you know if you’re having muscular aches or indigestion problems or acid reflux to something more serious like heart problems showing its early stages and coming in the form of a mild heart attack? I know there aren’t any sure ways to pinpoint what exactly it is before seeing the doctor, but until I can do that, is there a way to differentiate them from one another? Are there different key symptoms for each of the diagnosis I’ve mentioned? Please help me. I’m in kind of a crisis, so please be serious in your answers and don’t use this opportunity to make jokes about my situation. Thanks in advance. 10 points for best answer!
