In 22 years I had never experienced heartburn, until I got pregnant. The thing is though, I would get it when I was hungry, not AFTER I ate. The only time I ever have it is when I am pregnant…I am NOT pregnant now, but have had it everyday for a couple of weeks. What causes it? Stress? Hormone changes?
Please, any input would be great!!

Famotidine 20 mg,or Ranitidine 150 mg?
My heartburn seemed to be better for a few months but is really increasing in pain and frequency as I get older.
I can’t get a handle on any certain foods causing it because so many times it happens on an empty stomach.
It’s got so bad my heartburn seems to think Tums or Rolaids is candy. So I’ve been trying other things.
What worked for your increasing heartburn problem?
I just bought the Famotidine 20mg.If ya’ll say the Ranitidine 150mg is better then I’m screwed because I just used up all the Ranitidine and it stopped working by the end of the bottle too.
Seems like my burn is building immunity to everything )-:

I quite regularly suffer from acid reflux, more than likely because of my bad choices when it comes to food and drinks (a majority of the time i must admit).
I’ve searched yahoo answers and various search engines for a typical GERD diet to avoid reflux, however I find they are not very specific mainly saying ‘low fat’, ‘non-fried’… could someone please give me a typical diet? a days worth? a weeks worth?
Also, I’ve read drinking water helps alleviate the pain caused by GERD however I find that it sometimes makes it worse…
I don’t want to resort to taking medicines for this problem. The more natural the better.
Hope someone can help.
Thank x

and gerd and heartburn? What’s in them that helps? I just buy the store brand canned apricot halves in light syrup. Found this out by accident but it works.

A visit to the doctor a few days ago and I found out I’ve got acid reflux. I was prescribed Nexium. I have been exercising to decrease my weight, and I’ve also changed my eating habits. Now is there really a cure?

Please read this..if anyone has any advice please post! I am desperate..
No doctors have been able to figure out what is wrong with me. I went from being the picture of perfect health to being the sickest person I know in a matter of months. After I came down with mononucleosis, I developed IBS (among many other strange health problems) and doctors chalk it up to "stress" or "anxiety" and I refuse to accept that I am in horrible pain and getting worse and worse every day because of mental problems. I am currently under NO stress and have been under no stress for months and I feel worse than ever. Something is really wrong with me.
Here’s my symptoms
-Severe gas and cramps/ stomachaches
-GERD that barely responds to treatment
-constipation and occasional severe diarrhea
-weight loss/inability to gain weight
-nausea
medications history:
PPI’s make me really ill and don’t seem to help much, and my heartburn seems to have developed a tolerance to everything except Zantac. I was on birth control pills for years and have stopped them to see if symptoms got better, and they did not. I’ve also been put on multiple antidepressants, and they make me extremely ill (upset stomach, etc.)
Ive been tested for soo many things. I’ve had a barium esophagram, upper right quadrant abdominal ultrasound, tons of blood tests, etc. etc. My thyroid has been tested, I’ve had multiple CBC’s, tested for celiac disease…and I am not lactose intolerant, by the way. THe GI doctor pretty much told me to get a colonoscopy/endoscopy and that’s all that he could do. (I don’t have the money so I stopped going to him)
What could it be? My last doctor pretty much gave up on me and I just got a new one I am goin to see in December. What do you think this could be? Is there something I should ask her to test me for? I’m soo depressed at the thought that my body is just wacky from mono and I feel like the worst is yet to come. I’ve been sick for over 2 years and I am only 19. I just want my life back :/
Input appreciated..
