HOME REMEDIES FOR HYPERACIDITY?

My boyfriend consulted a doctor yesterday for the reason that he was experiencing hyperacidity.

With the following symptoms:
Sour or bitter taste in the mouth
Pain after eating food especially during heavy meals
vomiting sometimes

He had no other vices such as smoking, alcohol….

for now he is taking MAALOX PLUS. That’s what the doctor’s prescription.
Can you suggest effective treatment or HOME REMEDIES for hyperacidity or heartburn?

I usually get heartburn in the mornings and it’s usually bad enough to have to take some Tums.. and it usually goes away after that. There have been times before where I have had heartburn bad enough to the point where I ended up throwing up before taking the Tums.

I’ve been having the worst heartburn of my entire life starting last night. I woke up in the middle of the night and took Tums.. it didn’t improve that much, but luckily I was able to sleep. I woke up this morning again with heartburn and took the Tums. It didn’t help. So I took more. Still nothing. And then I drank a huge glass of ice water. Still nothing. All day my heartburn has been awful. I tried drinking apple cider vinegar and it didn’t help. I’ve taken Tums, chugged ice water, etc. I don’t eat a lot of foods that should cause heartburn and I eat a lot of vegetables, as a vegetarian. I also hardly ever have soda or coffee anymore, and haven’t had either in about a week.

Please help me. How do I make this go away?

If so please give me some ideas on how to treat besides seeing a doctor. I was diagnosed, tried his medication to no avail. searched the web any other ideas?

Can heartburn make your back hurt aswell?

I’ve had heartburn all day and it’s really been making my back painfull. I’ve taken a whole pack of rennes but it hasnt helped. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I’ve had GERD for many years, and I had fundoplication surgery 4 years ago. This and 40 mg Nexium a day have greatly controlled my symptoms, and I’ve been mostly OK.

BUT-3 1/2 months ago, I got MONO. a few weeks in (AFTER initial symptoms of fever, exhaustion, swollen tonsils, and sore throat had mostly faded), my throat started to feel like a lump was in it. This and other symptoms have been present up to present time: constant mild cough, throat-clearing, post-nasal drip in throat, and swollen taste bud on back and sides of tonuge.

An ENT said, without doing a scope, that is was likely LPRD, that the Mono had knocked out my immune system and invited my esophageal reflux up into my throat. He told me to take Nexium TWICE a day.

This was 2 months ago. All these symptoms are still there, and lately I also feel a mild twitching or spasm-like sensation near my Adam’s Apple, on and off. Do these symptoms sound like LPRD, or something else? Thanks.
FYI-I’ve called the ENT to ask him all this, but he says he can no longer help me (not too crazy about him). My options now are to tough it out and see if it gets better, or seek another opinion. My GP tried allergy meds, but most symptoms are still just as bad (i’m a little more dired-out, that’s it). before I see another ENT, I just wanted to know what people with solid diagnoses of this condition felt symptoms-wise, what treatment helped them, and how long it took to feel better. Thanks.
LPRD is laryopharyngeal reflux disease-acid reflux in your throat rather than your esophageal/G.I. tract.

I have a few health problems that are chronic and very, very expensive. I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and I take Remicade and Methotrexate for it. If I didn’t, my body would be covered in red lesions (I’ve been covered up to 70% of my body) and I’d be walking with a cane, preparing to have hip replacement. I know I need this treatment. Remicade is EXTREMELY expensive. My doctor’s office used to let me make payments…but they’ve changed their policy and you have to pay upfront. I have insurance, but I have to pay a very large deductible. This, plus the daily meds I take for the condition, plus meds for high bp, depression, and GERD, cost a helluva lot of money.

I had bronchitis for three months starting in October of last year. Long story short, they discovered I have a slightly deviated septum and an old infection in my sinuses. I took meds, and now I’m supposed to have a second CT of the sinuses…and I know that they’re going to find that I’m no better. The next step could be surgery. I’m feeling EXTREMELY guilty about how much my problems literally cost my family. I quit smoking and started eating better…but it’s not helping any of my conditions get better. This sinus thing is not a life or death situation here, or a question of mobility like my arthritis is. I’m tempted to blow it off. Yes, I have a chronic sore throat. No, I really can’t sing anymore…but I’m not a professional, I just sing at church and civic theater. I get so worried when I think about how much all these medical things cost, and with the economy the way it is, I know we could go broke in no time. What would you do if you were me? How important is it to fix this?
