My 8 week old son has severe GERD. I want to see if this is a reaction to something in my breast milk. I guess I should do a total elimination diet since he’s such a mess (grunts constantly, cries when eating, often refuses to eat, arches neck, spits up, diarrhea (but no blood in stool).
I’ve been giving him Nutramigen for the past 3 days just to see if this helps. So far, no difference. I’ve been pumping in the meantime. Also, he’s on Prevacid which helps w/his pain but he’s still REALLY uncomfortable.
WHAT CAN I EAT ON AN ELIMINATION DIET? Has anyone had any luck with specialized formulas for when I want to stop nursing?

I had heartburn about 4 weeks back and took prilosec for 8 days. That stopped the heartburn, but after 2 weeks later, i started getting gas. And excessive amounts too, not just your normal 2-3 burps.
I started taking Yakult 3 days ago (pro-biotics similar to Danone’s DanActiv), to help digestion of foods. It helps. I think indigestion the problem.
I’ve lost 15 lbs so far by eating right (since heartburn) and staying away form alcohol (I’m 23) and plan on loosing another 20. But I’m still burping like crazy.
The other night I may have over-eaten (or eaten more than usual) and the gas kept on going. I woke up with my throat burning just last night. I guess back to elevating again. But this hasn’t happened before…probably only because i over-ate. No more of that..
So my question is, when I’m burping, sitting upright, do acid come up too? Or does it stay down by being upright? And also, any suggestions on what i can do?
I’m using baking soda and apple cider vinegar (natural remedy from earthclinic.com) along with the Yakult pro-biotic drink.

no matter what, even if i haven’t eaten or if ive eaten a small amount, it doesn’t even matter what it is, i ALWAYS have a uncomfortable bloated and full feeling.
I also have constant heartburn, like constant, its not triggered by anything so I cant just avoid certain foods.
I am seriously going crazy….80% of the time I just feel sick
has anyone else ever had these weird symptoms?

During this summer I have been very ill and having many symptoms that kind of indicates that I have Gastroesophageal reflux disease A.K.A. GERD ( I did some research). To start off, in the beginning of this year I got my gallbladder removed due to too many gallstones. And right after the operation I was feeling healthy and well. I have been avoiding fast food, etc. But a few months later I have fallen ill with a lot of stomach acid or acid reflux, I can no longer swallow food properly, i have no stomach pain, but i vomit constantly. Every time I eat food I don’t digested well. Like when the food just comes back and when it comes back it’s stick with like a lot of saliva, it just grosses me out. I try to avoid fatty, dairy, and acid food because if i eat something greasy I will automatically vomit it back and yet I still throw up!. I even drink pills for the acid reflux but it seems not to work so much and that this doesn’t seem to go away! What is weird is that I don’t have any stomach pain or bloating and if even if i drink a lot of water I will puke it back..=(.This is kind of similar to the symptoms that I had when I had gallstones…but just no pain. Plz help me out…What do you guys think? Could it be GERD? I am only 19 yrs old.

I have been having severe heartburn since my pregnancy 6 months ago. I went to a GI doctor several times. He tried several different heartburn medications and none have helped. He did an endoscopy and said he saw no damage or anything abnormal. I’m still having the symptoms and it’s to the point where I can only eat bland foods. I went to my internist and had many tests and nothing is abnormal. I even had my heart check and it is fine. I’m hesitant to go back to the GI doctor because I don’t want him to think I’m crazy or faking, since nothing has helped and nothing was abnormal in my tests. I feel like I can’t continue like this and I’m afraid there is nothing anyone can do. Has anyone experienced anything like this or know what this could be?

Is there a connection between the 2? I suffer from IBS as well, that I know is related to fibro. What is a good natural remedy for GERD or OTC product, cause I have to take Propain Forte and DF 118, but the ibuprofen I cut out totally, because I think it is the root of it.
