issues in my esophagus. My Endoscopy is scheduled for June 1st. Until the the doctor told me to go on a strict diet. I started myself on a Bland Soft Food/Liquid Diet. Basically, I eat yogurt, protein drinks such as Carnation Breakfast and mashed potatoes or Broth. For now, it does not irritate my esophagus. The only problem is that I have been on a diet for a few weeks to lose weight. Then this problem presented itself and I had to change my diet again. Will eating this hinder me from losing weight? I need to lose weight, I work out a few times a week already. I am starting to add more to my workouts. But this is my daily meal plan, basically the same everyday. What can I add or change to help lose weight?
Breakfast- Carnation Instant Breakfast (mixed with banana in blender)
Snack-Jello-sugar free
Lunch- Bowl of mashed potatoes-plain-sometimes with sprinkled parmesean cheese.
Snack- Pudding-sometimes sugar free
Dinner- Broth or mashed potatoes, sometimes a bowl of plain grits.
I sleep upright every night. My upper body is elevated. I do not eat for at least 2 hours before bedtime. I am taking Prilosec for the GERD. I am staying away from acids, chocolate, bread, meat, tomatoes, most rice and pasta. I am trying hard to correct the problem by not aggrevating it.

THIS IS THE INSTRUCTIONS, ESPECIALLY THE LAST BIT FROM CHEW TABLETS..
"TAKE AS REQUIRED AFTER MEALS AND BEFORE GOING TO BED, UP TO 4 TIMES A DAY. CHEW TABLETS THOROUGHLY BEFORE SWALLOWING AND FOLLOW WITH WATER IF DESIRED."
SO DO THEY MEAN LIKE:
1. I HAVE TO LET THE TABLET JUST MELT ON MY MOUTH AND JUST SWALLOW THE MELTED LIQUID?
2. BITE THE TABLET AS IN BREAK IT DOWN WITH MY TEETH INTO LITTLE PIECES AND SWALLOW?
OR SOMETHING ELSE????? I HAVE BEEN DOING THE FIRST OPTION. AND DO I TAKE A TABLET RIGHT AFTER A MEAL OR WAIT FOR A BIT? IF SO HOW LONG? JUST PLEASE EXPLAIN THE INSTRUCTIONS A BIT SIMPLER WITH DETAILS.

I have had pain leading up to worse pain over the past two years.. I know, I know.. I should have seen a doctor way before this. I am the type to let things go and hope they get better. I normally don’t go to the doctor unless I absolutely have too.
Here are my symptoms:
Pain underneath both of my breasts.. Usually this pain is in-between as well.. The pain usually is under my right breast, followed by pain in the middle of my abdomen like it is going straight down. This pain will hurt more if I take any deep breaths as well.. Lately, I have noticed this pain more right after I eat or sometimes on an empty stomach and sometimes the pain can be pretty bad that my lower back will start hurting as well..
The pain I am having tho is not a burning sensation. At least I wouldn’t call it that. I have had heart burn where it feels like my throat is burning or on fire after eating mustard for example. This is not the same, this is a constant pain that sometimes takes hours to go away.
I know this is a long explanation.. Sorry! Any help or answers on anyone who has a ulcer and their symptoms would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, I finally went to the doc. She prescribed me a pill for ulcers and gerd but, I notice I still have the pain.. So, further tests will probably need done.. *sigh*

I noticed an odd thing that has happened 3 times to me now after drinking specifically Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat beer. Shortly after drinking it, I will have an irritation in my esophagus that feels like a mix of pain and heartburn. The feeling the first time I drank this beer caused a couple of shooting pains into my throat, and the pain lasted all of the next day as well. I didn’t consider the beer at first, because I was at a friend’s house whose 1-year old was getting breathing treatments for a cold and thought it was an adverse reaction to that. But tonight I had one of these beers at home and started to get the pain again. I drink different kinds of beer on a semi-regular basis, and this is the only one that has ever done this. No other wheat beers I’ve tried have either. Could it be an allergy of some kind? Any thoughts?

Even though I do not overeat, (I tend to eat 4 meals a day, about 500 cals each) my stomach tends to hurt and sometimes I even get heartburn about an hour or so after I eat. Why does that happen? I am 17 years old, male, 5 ‘10, 136 lbs by the way and I have come off a strict diet about a month ago.

My heartburn is usually caused by the normal causes- eating too much and eating certain foods, but I’ve also noticed that when I don’t eat or eat very little, the heartburn gets intense. why is that?

Is it possible that heartburn drugs can increase the risk of pneumonia? If yes, then how does it linked?
