I have been curious for awhile about the differences between regurgitating and vomiting especially with GERD. The main reason is I have a phobia of vomiting..but I have GERD. I dont like vomiting cause its painful, but is regurgitation different, is it less painful? Does it lead to vomiting if you arent carful? I know my dad when he’d have GERD symptoms said he’d ‘hack the food back up’ but he said he hadnt vomited in years. So im wondering the difference. I get that backed up feeling in my throat all the time and constantly swallow to get it back down, is it better to let it come back up?

I have heartburn and no pills or anything to get rid of it (I’m only 20 so it’s not a household need really) Is there any method to make it not be so bad without buying something? (the stores are closed)
I know what it was. I tried one of those meatball subs from subway. It wasn’t worth it lol.

I get moderate heartburn quite often. Its something that runs in the family, no doubt, but it seems that my heartburn is aggravated more frequently when I eat red meats. (hamburgers, bacon, steak ect.) And less likely when I eat chicken or fish, or no meats at all.
I have considered a light vegetarian diet for a while now, but have never totally commited myself to it. But after this most recent bout with my heartburn, I’ve really began to wonder, are Vegetarians less likely to experience heartburn?
If so, it seems a great idea to switch over. Relief from this burning would greatly benefit not only my health, but also my joy into enjoying foods again. lol.
I’d love to gather some insight on this from both Vegans and some vegitarians who still consume dairy products. Thanks so very much for your help.

I was wondering if anyone else has bad stomach pain when they try to run or dance or do any movement that requires more energy than walking. It’s like a strange, throbbing, muscle ache. I have GERD but I haven’t been diagnosed with anything else. I find that I do not get enough help by doctors. Could this pain be a hiatal hernia? I have no idea. Also, could this stomach pain go away after surgery to remove GERD?…help! thanks…

I made the mistake of eating mexican yesterday and have been miserable since. Heartburn has been horrible for a week. Tums are my new friend. Are there any eating patterns or types of food that would help this? i have been trying to just eat small meals/snacks throughout the day. Yesterday i met my mom for lunch so i didn’t stick to that. Even peaches gave me heartburn. i have limited myself to 1 cup of coffee in the morning. Could that cause it too?

I was diagnosed with acid reflux about 10 years ago, and I haven’t really done anything to help it. Whenever I had heartburn, I either ignored it or took Pepcid. But this morning, I woke up and it felt like I was having a heart attack, except I could breathe and I was fine after I took Pepcid.
I recently came across the words "acid reflux attack." What is that, exactly? I have never heard of this before. Is this what happened to me this morning?

I have had severe symptoms with acid reflux. At times I wake up with a fluid coming out my nose and sometimes I wake up with the sensation of drowining and then I’m in the bathroom trying to cough the burning sensation out of my throat.
I am on nexium 40mg daily. I take it at 3pm and eat my last meal at 4:30pm. The thing is that I go to bed around 10pm and still wake up with these symptoms that really hurt and interrupt my sleep. There are times I am chewing tums, eating a few crackers, drinking pepto or even downstairs drinking straight out the milk jug just to get some relieve and nothing helps. I stay away from spicy foods/carbonated bevereages and like I said I eat my last meal at 4:30, sometimes 5 but go to bed 5–6 hours later and still have this problem.
I have taken many prescribed meds, and the little purple pill (nexium) doesnt even help anymore. Do you think that surgery for this might be my only option? If so, what are the pros/cons to it.
Thanks, and sorry this was so long. I just cant take it anymore.
BTW….. I am 37 years old
