I am 25 weeks pregnant with my 1st child. I just started experiencing Acid Reflux the day before Christmas. I was so bummed bc I could not even enjoy Christmas dinner that I had been looking forward to for months! I thought it would go away, so I just called my doctor and left a message on the nurse’s line this am.

The feeling is horrible and I can’t eat anything without my throat feeling like it’s on fire! What meds are safe to take in pregnancy for heartburn/acid reflux?

Right now, the only thing that I prettymuch can stomach is chocolate milk, popsicles and fruit smoothies. These items really make my throat feel better, especially the milk. It seems like water makes it worse. When I lay down at night it feels like the "fire" rises from the pit of my stomach all the way up to my esophogus. It takes my breath away. It feels like I am breathing fire!

This is really affecting my sleep, and needless to say, I am starving! I had really bad morning sickness from weeks 8 to 12, and to make matters worse, my morning sickness has returned, and the acid from the vomit just makes me want to swallow ice cubes! I’m pretty much only consuming the liquids that I mentioned, because any type of solid food affects me!

Any advise, has anyone else had it this bad? How long did it last? Why is it just appearing this "late" so to speak in my pregnancy?

I’ve been having horrible heart burn lately and I’m starting to think that it might be because of Ibuprofen. I’ve got acid refulx, but it hasn’t been an issue since I was about 14 and has been an every once in a while thing since then. But recently it’s been pretty constant. I take Ibuprofen for headaches and the aches and pains from my workouts, so it’s an every other day med for me. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with Ibuprofen causing heartburn. I know it does for my g-pa and mom.
Thanks to the answers. I’ve had ulcers before when I was a kid. I’ll just lay off the Ibuprofen and try some herbal teas instead for the aches and pains. :]

what is safe to take during pregnancy for heartburn? I would like to take some kind of the liquid stuff cause that always works for me, like mylanta. Anyone know what is safe to take?
