It is really uncomfortable. Did anyone else have this and if so, what did you do ro take to make it go away?

Maalox.
I took tums. They didn’t help all that much.
Tums is about all I was allowed to take. I drank more water and cut out really greasy or spicy foods. Nothing really seems to work. I’m 18 weeks with #2 and already experiencing those symtpoms. Fun, isn’t it!
Just stay away from foods high in vitamin c. Drink mango juice instead of orange juice.
You can take Tums. I was eating them like candies for a while. You can’t take Pepto, I know that for sure. It’s on the bad medicines list.
I completely understand where you are coming from! I have had horrible heart burn from the beginging. Luckily, I found out that over the counter Zantac is safe during pregnancy. I take one 150 mg tablet and am feeling great again! What a life saver. My OB said it’s even ok to take more than once a day occasionally!
Try it out, I hope it works!
I have been taking tums which kinda help, but not that great. My doc said that if the tums don’t cut it to try OTC Zantac. She said that should hold me over longer. I have not tried them yet.
Try the following:
* Drink a glass of milk, supposed to help neutralize the acid in the stomach
* Don’t lie down after eating
* Don’t eat spicy foods
I had heartburn but it went away after a few weeks and never came back.
I am 22 wks also. Be sure that it’s heartburn before you treat it-my doctor has told me that when people feel their baby move it feels a lot like heartburn. Last night I was slammin’ my fist into the computer desk I had pain so bad but I know it was her pushing in one certain area over & over again.
I had this problem my entire pregnancy. Tums were my best friend. I ate them like a kid eats candy. When you sleep, sleep on a pillow so the acid doesn’t come up while you sleep.
I use Zantac twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. It has helped immensely!!
I was getting sick towards the end of my 2nd tri and the doctor said i may have acid reflux, so he said to take the zantac. It works. I can really feel a difference when I don’t take it.
You can take as many tums as they recommend on the container. I take them regularly…probably 4 a day and my dr says it is fine. I’m 37 weeks prego and have had heartburn for about 2 months.
Tums worked well for me. I also like that they give me some extra calcium when I take them. Avoid spicy foods and don’t lie down after eating.
Have you tried taking an antacid?
Some precautions that you can do to make it go away include avoiding eating spicy or acidic foods, avoiding alcohol and soft drinks, no chewing gum, and more. The below two links are to advice with more precuations/suggestions on how to beat heartburn or acid reflux.
