Acid, heartburn, reflux?

I was wondering if you have heartburn really bad and the medication is not helping like it used to, is there any kind of operation or treatment that would cure it?
I’m taking Omeprozole 40 mg in the morning and Ranitidine 150 mg at nite and then I pop tums as well. I might add that I am being very careful what I eat and how much.

The surgery is a Nissen Fundoplication–it tightens the sphincter at the top of your stomach. I had one in 2006. Your doctor will need to do tests to determine if the surgery would help you. Two tests I had were: Upper GI Endoscopy–they sedate you and take a look at your esophagus and stomach. BRAVO test–a sensor is implanted in your esophagus and it sends info to a receiver about how much acid is getting out of your stomach. If your meds just aren’t working, see your doctor and ask what your next step should be.
Are you on prescription medication or just using over the counter medicine from your pharmacy? It sounds like you may have a peptic ulcer in which case your doctor may prescribe a proton-pump inhibitor to reduce acid production in your stomach. This will ease the heartburn and can sometimes allow the ulcers to heal completely.
Setup and don’t lay down within 2 hours after eating.
Laying down allows the stomach acid act on the flap that keep the stomach closed and irritates the seal around that flap.
Stop eating spicey food a lot unless you were raised on the spicey foods from birth.
