Is there something in the diet dr. soda that does this or is this my body having a reaction to just this one drink?

I would check with your doctor. There might be something in the pop that your body doesn’t tolerate very well. You might also want to talk to your doctor about acid reflux disease. I have the same problem when i eat too many spicy foods, or when I drink too much pop.
could be the substitute sweetener
well burp.
could be sodium benzoate,,,,,,sodium metibisulfite,,,metAbisulfite,(one of the two ),,,could be gallbladder inflammation, heliobacter pyelorum9thats the ulcer bacteria),see doctor, change to fresh oj,,,these measures might restore you. you might also add small fishies like sardines,or tuna fish to your diet, plus extra beta carotene
you could have a reaction to the sweetener. try NOT DRINKING the diet soda.
Drinking soda, or any carbonated drink, causes your stomach to become distended due to the carbonation. This in turn can bring on acid reflux as the pressure in your stomach is increased, which makes you burp bringing with it acid from the stomach into the esophagus.
It’s probably best to give up the soda seeing as you have such a violent reaction to it. However, if that sounds too awful then try following these steps to minimize the impact:
- Take small sips and avoid ‘gulping’ your sodas. So best to avoid when really thirsty.
- Drink sodas only as treat and really savour it.
- Buy bottled soda not cans. This way you can drink a little at a time and aren’t ‘forced’ to drink the whole can.
