Any advice for dealing with heartburn while pregnant?

The heartburn medications like tums and stuff do nothing for me. I am wondering if there is any way I can eat to minimize the problem. Everything I eat gives me heartburn, even a small amount but if I don’t eat at all I have it even worse. Crackers and bread settle it a little but I can live on that. Any advice for an anti-heartburn pregnancy diet?

The only thing that helped my heartburn was having the baby.
I had heartburn when I woke up in the morning. Anything I ate (even bland things like bananas) made it worse.
I would stick with the crackers and bread and just hang in there…. It will all be worth it.
Drink milk it helps me a lot.

Have you tried baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)? Take a spoonful and it usually works within minutes to settle your heartburn. Just be sure to have something ready to wash it down because it tastes pretty awful.
I found some good sites:

I have suffered from horrible heartburn during all of my 4 pregnancies but Tums did help me some. Dont drink Milk. It is not recommended if you have bad heartburn. If you cant calm it down by following some hints from these sites,I would talk to your doctor at your next visit. Good Luck!
I always heard that your baby would be born with a lot of hair if you had heartburn.
For the heartburn I eat crackers after my meals but of course I can’t get preg.
I do get the hreat burn though.
my doctor prescribed me prevacid, it worked wonders!!! but i really hated taking something everyday so i only took it the days i had heartburn the night before or if i had plans to eat something that would trigger heartburn
Cold milk works for most (should be cold from the fridge). For me crackers or any kind of biscuits, cold water, works wonders. Drink lots of water (preferably cold)- it helped me.
Avoid food that is sour or spicy as this increases acid flow. Avoid citrus juices until your acidity subsides. Cold food is good.
I use baking soda for heart burn. I pour some into my palm, take it, then chase it with water (its not the most pleasant taste). But it works very fast at relieving the burning and pressure. It is a more natural way of dealing with heart burn, especially with you being pregnant. And you can get a small box for like .50 at most stores.
