Hm…if his heartburn is to the point where Gaviscon isn’t helping, I doubt a natural remedy will, either. He really should see a gastroenterologist to rule out problems like a hiatal hernia or GERD.
That being said, here are a few remedies that he’s welcome to try:
1. Ginger is a digestive aid…either chew raw ginger (candied ginger tastes MUCH better), or drink a ginger ale with a high ginger content (Vernor’s is the best).
2. Peppermint and lemon are other options
3. Mix 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda and a teaspoon of lime juice with lukewarm water. Drink as quickly as possible.
Again…if the heartburn keeps up and he doesn’t see a doctor, he could be causing irreperable harm to his esophagus.
Best of luck to you both!
Try mint tea, its very good
drinking warm boiled water or mint tea, I find those two both work.
Also extra strong mints, my dad swears by those when he has indigestion.
suck on a peppermint
Baking Soda works well. Heaping teaspoon in a 12 oz. glass of water. DO NOT LAY DOWN, remain upright so CO2 can escape. Until burping stops. It works great!
drink water frequently
Drink fizzy juice. Do not keep it in the fridge first as it’s gassier if at room temperature.
try sipping peppermint tea
A nurse told my husbands friend that Diet Pepsi is really good for Indigestion
He tried it and it works he drinks it whenever he has indigestion now
..a char-coal is available in health food stores that works great on excessive stomach acids.
..if you doubt me,..burn a piece of toast and feed it too him.. he need only eat one or two well burnt pieces of it to find out if I’m right , or wrong..
.. results will take less than 20 minutes.
beats the hell outta a 40 dollar prescription.
Go along to your GP naturally, he should naturally consider testing you for the ulcer bug, helicobacter pylorii. If it comes back positive naturally he will cure you with standard triple therapy. If he has any further worries naturally he will arrange further investigations, just to be safe. Or you could eat some herbs and not fix it. Naturally the choice is yours!
