I’m 22 weeks pregnant and I have the worse acid indigestion I’ve ever had. It’s horrible! I don’t only have heartburn 90% of the time, but I’m neaseaus with occasional vomiting.
Does anyone know any pregnancy safe tricks I could try? I’m already taking tums and zantac, which are helping a bit. But any additional ideas would be welcome. I’m desperate!

Drink a glass of milk..my boyfriend does when he has heartburn and he says it works for him.
use tums and drink milk …
Oh my goodness I can’t wait to see what you get for answers as I am always up with heartburn and I have two more weeks left! AAAHHH! I use tums which don’t work and then try some milk..that doesn’t work either. I don’t even eat anything spicy or salty and more and I still get it!
tums didnt work for me, i switched to gaviscon and it has been better than the tums
i dont have any home remedies for you to try- but try taking tagamet you can get it over the counter and it works for BOTH heartburn and indigestion!!!! and its safe to take…. I take it and im 37 weeks along and ive been taking it the last 2 or so months…. My obgyn recomended it for me since I felt the same as you! I feel ur pain!!!!
baking soda in water
I had this so bad I thought I was having a heart attack. I couldn’t breathe, I felt like I was choking all the time. Vomiting. Tums, Zantac, drinking milk, none of that stuff was helping at all. So the Dr put me on Prilosec OTC (they have a walmart brand too) It works a different way than medicines like Zantac. It stops your stomach from producing acid. Zantac and tums only treat the symptoms of the acid reflux. After about 3 days of the Prilosec..I had hardy any problems at all. My husband also raised the head of our bed about 4 inches. That seems to help too. If occassionally I have trouble at night, I take a swig of Maalox Advanced. Which is safe to take also.
I’m not sure how "safe" it is, especially if you may have high blood pressure. When I was pregnant 32 years ago, the movie ROOTS was on TV and we made dessert every night. I would go to the kitchen and mix a heaping teaspoon of baking soda in a cold glass of water and stir until it was almost clear. Drink it down, fast, it doesn’t taste so good, but better than heartburn. In a few minutes, you’ll burp and it will release all the bloated heartburn. Check with your doctor first.
Don’t lay on your right side. Elevate the head of your bed.
cabbage juice is your best alternative.
The best home remedy for that is pure Baking Soda, put about one half teaspoon of soda in a half, 4oz. glass of water, stir real good, and drink it. It is a life savor, and the Doctor says that it will not hurt you.
some tips , don’t use tea ,Coffee , drink water 4 glass in morning on empty stomach . always use alkaline food , don’t eat any time only when You hungry and please visit ( aloe vera uses )
The only thing that works for me is a glass of milk… I tried tums.. but they only worked as i was chewing it lol..then BAM.. heartburn right back.. My doctor also suggested to get prilosec for the heartburn. He said its also good for sour stomach. I haven’t tried it yet but I know that is OTC now…
Tums doesn’t work I have tried I called my doctor yesterday and she said I can use regular pepcid. I am 23 weeks and have really bad heartburn.
I drink milk – 2% works the best for me. As well as bread. The bread seems to soak up some acid and the milk coats the throat and stomach. Whole milk would probably work better with coating, but I can barley get the 2% down.
My doctor told me to try to avoid spicy foods and red sauces. Those give most women the hardest time. Also, try to wait at least an hour after you eat before you lay down.
some think minty i.e. chewing gum .. mints etc
