I’m only 18 weeks along in my second pregnancy and I’m having painful heartburn every evening. Can anybody tell me a remedy or even some advice on avoiding heartburn? Thank you!

Have plenty of really cold milk, icecreams.Avoid tea, coffee, chocolates and biscuits. Have something every half hour, so if yr stomach is not completely empty, you wont have too much production of acidity.
Try baking soda disolved in water. This worked for my best friend and she had heartburn really bad.
Tums, Rolaids. Good luck!!
Eat small meals and eat snacks in between.
Don’t lie down right after you eat. Watch your diet and stay away from very fatty or acidic foods. Also, it’s OK to take TUMS during your pregnancy. I was extremely nauseated during my last pregnancy and TUMS were a lifesaver.
I KEPT MY HEARTBURN UNDER CONTROL BY AVOIDING SPICY, GREASY FOODS AND DRINKING SPARKLING WATER. ALSO, TRY NOT TO LAY DOWN RIGHT AFTER EATING.
I literally never left home without a bottle of tums. My doctor also told me to avoid lying down right after i eat. He told me to stay uprtight for an hour or so afterwords, and to avoid eating late at night, and eating spicy foods. Ive heard heartburn equalls lots of hair, and my son came out with tons after all my heartburn. Maybe this can comfort you!! Good Luck
Eating raw celery worked for me.
tum tu tu tum tumms!!!!!!!! do not do the baking soda thing…..you can cause permanant damage to your stomach……..this was told to me by a doctor i used to take it for heartburn it is dangerous…..tumms and lots of it do you know the reason you have heartburn so much my doctor mind you told me that when the babys hair grows whatever causes it to start growing the hormones involved cause heartburn in my experience it was true no heartburn with my first child he was bald…..both my girls i had horrible heartburn and they looked like little monkeys!!!!!!!!
A glass of milk will help your heartburn plus give you the calcium you need! I had HORRIBLE heartburn while pregnant. I lived off of milk and tums the whole 8 months!
to avoid it make sure not to eat too much at once or anything spicy! Eat small meals often with liquid like water or milk. You may want to stay away from Caffeine also.
Good luck and Congrats!
You may want to go to a health Food Store and ask them for some Ginger tablets….Ginger is good for settling stomach problems……:)
Drink lots of water and buy a really big bottle of rolaids!! Milk is also said to help. It helped me.
As for advice, sometimes you get it from anything you eat, bland or spicy. Its just a part of pregnancy. However avoiding spicy foods is best. Eat smaller fewer meals and don’t lie down right after you eat.
Good luck and Congrats!
I have heart burn usually around bed time most nights. Sometimes not eating anything too close to bedtime helps, but not always. Tums usually do the trick for me though. They are safe to take while pregnant.
I was getting alot of heart burns, and would drink cold milk and it seamed to work for me, if not try Mylanta.
My sister-in-law had that problem. Chewing 3-5 Tums worked for her. It usually happened after an unusually greasy or spicy meal. But there were times throughout her pregnancy that she got heartburn no matter what she ate. I guess it was because the baby was pushing on her stomach or something. Good luck!
ice cold water always worked for me, I have no idea why…
