Can cantaloupe cause heartburn?
I’ve never had heartburn before, and suddenly I felt a cramping sensation in my chest after I had consumed quite a bit of cantaloupe. It lasted about half an hour, a pain burning and running up to my throat (I think that’s heartburn?) I know that acidic foods cause acid reflux/heartburn, but after checking a few websites it says cantaloupe should HELP heartburn. Has anyone experienced heartburn after cantaloupe?

IT is unlikely that cataloupe ALONE can cause heartburn, however, the problem usually results from eating any type of fruit on a stomach that also contains other more slowly digesting foods, particularly meat. I personally always found that fruit and any bread product gave me almost immediate heartburn. So evaluate what else you had eaten in the previous 60-90 minutes (or less) and you will most likely have your answer.
