This is kind of two questions..

First of all.. do you think I have GERD? I had an endoscopy done about 2 years ago and they said I had erosions in my stomach. They told me to take OTC Prilosec, and it has worked for the most part. It recently started getting terrible though, and taking antacids or pepto feels like it makes it worse. Did my erosions turn into GERD?.. Anything I eat lately causes heartburn.. it’s terrible.. even drinking water. Thoughts?

My next question relates the the first. The morning after I have a few drinks, I am sick alllll day. Literally. It doesn’t really matter how many drinks.. it does seem to be worse with tap beer though.. but I throw up from 3 a.m. until about 5 p.m. the next day.. probably like 2 times an hour.. and by the end of it all I am so dehydrated I dont know what to do with myself becuase I cant keep ANYTHING down. I have gone to the doctor numerous times because of this, but they just give me an IV with fluids and a medication to help with the nausea. They just seem to think I am dehydrated. I drink water before I drink and inbetween so I dont think it starts with dehydration. Do you think GERD is the cause of this sickness after drinking alcohol? Any thoughts would be appreciated.. this is getting out of control! :S

I’m taking both Nexium & Zantac prescribed by my doctor for the acid reflux. I may have to have surgery but in the meantime any advice you have would be helpful.

I have GERD as well , but i have bad breath almost most part of the day. If I brush it will be fresh for 1 hour and back to normal. Can GERD cause continuous bad breath? My teeth are pale yellow to white. Anyway I can get my teeth to be white w/o any sideeffects. This is really embarassing me. I would like some permanant solution instead of using chewing gum always.

Is it possible for GERD to be caused by bulimia?

I was just Curious. I was diagnosed with both and they gave me protonix 40mg x1 daily and they gave me a symbicort inhaler. I tried to just use the protonix and not the inhaler about three different times and usually about the third day I start coughing and wheezing real bad and feel like I am short of breath which the rescue inhaler and the symbicort inhaler start working after about 20 minutes. The protonix has stopped the horrible feeling and taste in my throat but I feel like I still have burning in my stomach, why is this? Is it because of my asthma?

This has happened to me in the past with echocardiogram, arterial blood gas test and pulmonary function test coming back normal. At the time the only thing they could point out as cause was a recent bronchoscopy that might have left leftover lavage fluid.

Now, a year later, after being on nexium almost 12 months, the pain/anxiety came back while walking. The only thing that has changed in the last week or so is that I had discontinued Nexium (40mg/1x/day) and had about 3-4 fast food meals which I know gave me reflux but not on the day of the chest pain, this happened on pretty much an empty stomach in the morning.

When this happened I had no troubled or labored breathing or panting, just the chest discomfort that suddenly appeared along with the anxiety that followed.

I had been doi(ng strenuous exercise and salsa dancing a couple months ago so I cannot see how the only factor (GERD comeback) that has changed this past couple weeks could be a factor in this, wouldnt it cause the pain and the anxiety also at rest if it was the GERD?
