Hello. I’m 14, weigh 114 pounds (lost 10 pounds) and I’m 5′8 . I’ve lost weight from my stomach issues and possibly anxiety. I get nauseated whenever I’m near, think or smell food. Its awful. I’ve lost my appetite and I’ve had a empty feeling in my stomach even though I’m prescribed Prilosec . I do have GERD but I’m not sure if its causing this. Also, I have a gagging feeling on the right side of my throat. Help??

If so, why does my acid reflux feel as if it is getting worse. Also, could my GERD meds be causing my acid relux to be getting worse if my surgery has indeed helped my GERD?

(126 lbs.,5′7,Half Japanese) I’m currently 16 years old a Junior in H.S. and since my Freshman year i have had some health issues. Well it all started with these breathing problems that at first happened at least twice a month and gradually it happened every day and this was a little before i started my freshman year. I didnt go to the doctors till Sophomore year around Nov., i had an appt. they took my blood and they thought something was wrong so they took it again and they said something like there wasnt enough oxygen in my red blood cells but the other breathing tests and readers said my body was getting enough oxygen. That day they took my blood 3 times and pricked my finger, the finger blood thing was done at another hospital and everything looked perfect on their charts, and later on i was diagnosed with Vocal Chord Dysfunction and the cause was stress but i knew this was wrong cause i am the least stressed person but i dealt with it and for about 3 months i did breathing exercises and it did not get any bettter than later on i was diagnosed with GERD in March and for a month i took medicine for that. But i went to Japan after that and have not recieved any other medicine and im worried that with having this GERD for a little over 2 years that it has harmed my body. Do you think that 2 years of GERD has done alot of damage to my body??

He had an endoscopy done 2 weeks ago, they stretched his esophagus b/c the acid reflux had caused it to get so tight he couldn’t swallow food and barely get water down. They put him on Prevacid, and that helped, but he kept having these breakthrogh spats of it, (had an awful one yesterday afternoon that I rushed him to the DR over) and when they happen he can’t eat or barely even breath.
They switched him to Nexium yesterday, said it was stronger….what is your experience with it if you’ve been on it? Did it help? They also said it may take 4-5 days to really kick in for him, so in case he has another flair up, is their anything else we can do for him? We have had him proped up at night time, I won’t let him lay down for at least an hour after eating, I’m tryin to keep him eating WAY before bed time, and I am TRYING (although not very sucessfully) to get him to take smaller bites and chew better and eat less greasy and bad food. Any experience with Nexium and other advice?
Oh, and he’s only 27….
The Dr’s don’t seem to worried, they just tell me to be patient and try another drug…..but I don’t want things to flair up again and get him to where he can’t eat again, that was a MISERABLE week…

For the past month I have been totally dizzy, nauseated, and sleepy. I went to the dr two weeks ago and had a double ear infection. I took my antibiotics and the ear infection went away.. The tiredness and nausea did not.. I am nauseated all day long, can’t eat, drink, or even think about food. I’ve been living on chocolate milk. I’m also taking motion sickness pills to stop the nausea so I can at least go to work… Now the sleepiness is in question too. I can go to bed at midnight, and if I don’t have to work, I’ll sleep till noon the next day.. Even then I have a hard time getting outta bed. If I have to work, I hit the snooze button at least 3 times and drag myself outta bed. Then I’m tired all day and take naps when I get home.
I went to the dr again yesterday and she think that my GERD is acting up causing the nausea. She thinks the sleepiness is caused by the motion sickness pills. She is prescribing me new stomach meds to see if that works… She also asked me at least 3 times if I was pregnant. Well, I had her do a pregnancy test 2 months ago due to another issue I was having, so I declined to let her do another one yesterday.. I have PCOS so my periods are irregular anyways.
So I am in disbelieve that it is my GERD causing the nausea and that the motion sickness pills are causing me to be so tired. I am so tired that a train could go through my room and I wouldn’t wake up!!
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?? My doctor wants to see me again in 10 days to see how things are going but I just wanted other opinions..
Thanks!
