The Dr thinks my 1 month and 8 day old infant is suffering from GERD (acid reflux). She told me to start giving him 1 teaspoon of rice cereal in his bottles per ounce of formula and only 3-4 0zs every 3-4 hours to help with this. I’m scared the cereal may constipate him. I don’t know if it will or not. Can I give him a little bit of plain water to prevent any problems the cereal may cause ? If so, how much should he have?

My son (age 3) was vomiting mucus a couple of days ago. It happened right as he woke up, yet the next morning he was happy and playing fine. Then last night he slept with us and he kept swallowing dozens of times. I realized it was mucus again! He has no cold symptoms, no sneezing, no more vomiting either, and he doesnt act sick during the day or night. He does have reflux, (GERD) but we have never dealt with a mucus problem or noticed this excessive mucus swallowing while sleeping. He sees a Feeding Team and a Gastrologist for his reflux problems. Ive already placed a call today theyre going to get him in. Im just trying to come up with some ideas or answers in the meanwhile. Thanks ahead of time!

…I run quite frequently on a treadmill or outside, and would class myself as having an above average fitness level.
When I run, after about 5 minutes I get acid reflux (or GERD), which causes a mild burning sensation in my chest, it doesn’t really go away until I finish running.
It’s a mild pain, but it is still a pain nonetheless, something I can cope with, but I don’t want to.
So does anybody else have this? If so can they recommend things to cut out of my diet? Or a cure to take while running?
NB: I do not exercise too soon after eating, sometimes this happens in the morning, before I have eaten or drunk anything, as I find I exercise better on an empty stomach.

I have a rather serious case of GERD and one 20mg pill every two days (the doctor advised one a day) helps a lot. However, over the past year and a half I’ve had a lot of indigestions or long, slow digestions.
PS: My working hours do not allow me to visit my family doctor at the moment

Im a 28 female. And a few weeks ago i started getting chest pains. And some times pains would radiate down both my arms, into my hands, and on the top of my back. Ive had my heart checked. They did ekg’s, 24 hour heart monitor, AND I had an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) done yesterday. Everything is comming back fine. The doctors said they are pretty sure its not my heart because everything is coming back normal. They did mention to me that they think i might have GERD. Which is pretty much acid reflux disease…Does anyone here have acid reflux or know anyone with it and if so, can it cause pains in your arms and chest???? This is driving me nuts. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT ELSE IT MIGHT BE??? Ive also had xrays of my chest and a blood clot test done. Eveything keeps comming back normal. Somone please give me some info that u think might be helpful or anything..Please, and thank you in advance. If theres anything i can answer please let me know and i will try and help you. Thanks again .

i’ve been wondering what is happening with me. i have occasional heartburn and i’m taking nexium as per doctors prescribed. however, i feel dizziness most times of the day and i’m starting to think that i have anxiety disorder. i also feel dizzy and anxiety starts to come in after eating. i had my blood test and it seems that everything is normal except slightly elevated SGPT and Triglycerides mainly because of fatty liver. i’m planning to have endoscopy next week to see the causes. Also, i’ve checked with endocri. last week and done blood test, showed that i have a slightly lowered TSH but normal Free T4.

I have been curious for awhile about the differences between regurgitating and vomiting especially with GERD. The main reason is I have a phobia of vomiting..but I have GERD. I dont like vomiting cause its painful, but is regurgitation different, is it less painful? Does it lead to vomiting if you arent carful? I know my dad when he’d have GERD symptoms said he’d ‘hack the food back up’ but he said he hadnt vomited in years. So im wondering the difference. I get that backed up feeling in my throat all the time and constantly swallow to get it back down, is it better to let it come back up?
