Coughing after waking up, a productive cough. Difficulty breathing and tightness in the chest for the first half hour or so after waking. Symptoms clearly better after using Inhaler prescribed by doctor for Asthma.
Occasional heartburn and a feeling like something is coming up or stuck in the throat area.

I am 22 years old. For about a year now, I have had this chronic clearing of my throat. It is somewhat uncontrollable and it persists for about an hour and happens 4-5 times a day. It feels like my throat is filling up with mucus but when I try to clear my throat nothing really comes up. I just find myself clearing my throat over and over again for about an hour until it passes.

Now, I used to smoke for 5 years, but when this cough came up, I immediately quit. I went to a doctor. They took a throat culture and told me it was GERD. I took some medication for 2 months and it didn’t help. I kept clearing my throat.

I went back after those 2 months and a different doctor told me it was just allergies. She put me on meds and those didn’t help either.

Again, I went to the doctor another month later and they told me it was GERD again. I am currently on a new med, Omeprazole, for almost a month and this doesn’t help either.

Reading up on GERD, it can have symptoms such as chronic cough like I have, but it also comes with acid reflux and heartburn, which I don’t get. If this is the case, what are the chances that I actually have GERD?

If I do, in fact, have GERD, why wont any of the medications I am taking work? What would you suggest I do?

My son is four months old and has had horrible reflux problems since he was a month old. We have seen two different doctors and a GI specialist. He is currently on Zantac and Reglan. Even with medication, he vomits forcefully after most feedings. He is slowly but steadily gaining weight. I know that symptoms associated with GERD usually subside before the baby is one year old, but, I was wondering; for those of you who have had experience with infant GERD, when did your baby start to have less problems?
I have tried different formulas, feeding in an up right position, thickening formula, keeping him elevated (especially after eating), and giving small frequent feedings. Nothing seems to help him He frequently refuses feedings and cries when he tries to eat. I just worry about him sometimes…

I’m 17 and since April ive just been on and off feeling my crap. None of these symptoms have made a negative impact in my refular life (except a lot of stress) and have not woken being up during the night.

Can someone tell me if these symptoms are of anything really bad? or maybe its an anxiety thing? My mom takes medication for anxiety, is it hereditary?

-Weird feeling from chin to collarbone, sometimes pain but a lot is tight feeling. Also if im wearing a necklace or something or sometimes even a shirt, it feels very uncomfortable resting on my collerbone. I cant describe it, its almost like pressure, but not killer.
-My throat hruts sometimes when I yawn or breathe in really deep from my mouth.
-I get pains on the sides of my neck sometimes, and in that rope like muscle that goes from behind my ears to my collarbone.
-Sometimes it feels like i have a lump in my throat
-post nasal drip
-I’ve had GERD like related symptoms sometimes
-Constipation (my doctor said i had IBS back in may)
-bloating & Abdominal pain
-visible veins (i do have pale skin)
-body aches sometimes
-jaw pain (My wisdom teeth are there but have not broken through yet)
-Mouth sores (like cankar sores)
-sometimes it feels like i have a pulse all trhough my body
I can feel the bumps under my jaw, but my mom says they arent swollen.

could this all just be in my head? liek anxiet or something? or seasonal allergies?

The only medical history i have really is i had auto-immune hymoletic anemia when i was two, hospitalized for 10 days. been gone since

GERD is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and my mum has it. i suffer from all the same symptoms as she does and what is connected to GERD. eg, heartburn, severe stomach cramps, chest pain, nausea and sore throat. Ive been to the doctors and had blood tests yet nothing seems to be showing up. the doctor (who isn’t very good i think) told me i have to get on with the pain and discomfort forever…
what should i do ?

during and immediately after feedings, my son begins to spit up and has a hard time burping in addition to making these strained, prolonged coughing noises. he’s usually constipated as well. are these the symptoms of gerd? he’s still gaining weight very well. how can i help him?

I have had acid reflux sense i was about 20, im now 25. Ive been in the hospital a few times this year, due to my heart palpultations and the chest burning causing anxiety attacks and other symptoms. Heart was tested to be fine, as well as my galbladder and stomache from a CT scan, it just showed red from the acid. Now, ive looked up GERD, but some symptoms i am experiencing are not listed. So my question and concern is this. Is being dizzy, feeling sick and nautious, a part of GERD? My chest burns real bad, my arms, hands, legs and feet feel weak, hands and feet especially feel tingly, and my fingernails turn purple. Half the time it is that my hands and feet just get cold easily, but others i could be in the 100 degree weather and my fingernails are turning purple. The acide is always rising up into my chest, and neck. I have taken many perscription meds, no dice. Should i be concerned about these symptoms? Thank you!!
yea the discoloration comes and goes, one minute im fine, the next i feel dizzy and sick again, and my nails turn purple, and i know thats not normal because ive never seen them purplish blue before. I had my blood pressure and all monitered, blood pressure is fine, and oxygen was around 98-99 range, all fine. not one doc ive seen can answer why my nails turn purple. Ive been told i look pale a lot lately, but i thought thats because i havent been able to eat much, i just feel sick a lot. Ive lost at least 15lbs in the past 2 months, i was 158, now im about 142 or so. Im worried, and i dont know what to do. My neck is all screwed up too, a few disks are buldging from my spinal cord. The doc said just to go to physical therapy, dont know if this relates to the nail discoloration, like a nerve pinch or strain, i know circulation from the neck does flow to the fingers. Any info would help, thanks for your input so far.
oh and i forgot, ive had plenty of blood work done while in the hospital, they took my blood a few times a day, nothing out of the ordinary, dont know if this includes the tests you reccomend. thx
edit: I dont believe i have RP for starters, my fingers are fine, its just my fingernails, sorry for not being more specific.
