Hi! Im 20 years old and I am about to start cosmetology school. I was diagnosed with GERD almost a year ago. I have been taking aloe Vera pills to help with the symptoms. Before then my doctor prescribed me prilosec OTC. After the pack ran out I was supposed to stop for a few weeks and start back up again if i needed to. Recently I lost my insurance so I cannot go back to the doctor but I really want to start back on the Prilosect. Is it safe to just start it again with out going to the doctor? I cant go to one right now but I need to do something because the aloe Vera pills help but its just not enough any more. I am about to start school soon and I cannot afford to miss a few days of school because im sick like I use to do. So I have to do something that effective so I wont have to miss any days of school. Please give me any suggestions you may have please and thank you.

I have had the following symptoms for a few months off and on. The earache and throat pain is back after being gone for about 3 months.

Heartburn every day – even before I eat, and almost always after dinner.
Thick saliva in the back of my throat.
Earache and a little throat pain on right side. But throat doesn’t hurt when I eat or drink.
Earache on the left side sometimes.
Pain under ribcage.

These symptoms are making me miserable… and google brings up cancer no matter what symptoms you search. In the past 4 months I’ve had an abdominal/pelvic CT scan, annual exam, annual blood work, thyroid test, and then a blood test to check for tumors when I told my doctor I thought they had missed something. All was normal…. they found two kidney stones – the pain is why I was having all of the tests.

What does this sound like to you?

About 4-5 days ago I mowed my lawn for about an hour. I tend to usually have common allergy symptoms (runny nose, itchy throat, etc.) the day after mowing, but when I woke up the next morning I felt like something was lingering in my throat (notably the back/bottom) that felt like a finger nail or chip. I also felt nausea and an upset stomach I was wondering if these are common symptoms of Post Nasal Drip or something else? By the way I don’t have GERD/Acid Reflux, just really crappy allergies .

Two weeks ago, I ended my dosages with Doxycycline for an infection that I had. Now, I’ve been suffering with bad stomach pains and a lump-like feeling in my throat. I went to the doctors yesterday, only to find out I now have GERD, also known as acid reflux. I’ve read multiple websites saying that GERD can last for a long time, or be very episodic. I know eating right foods and exercising a bit can help relieve it, but is there any actual cure? I just wouldn’t want this to last very long. Also, my doctors put me on Zantac, saying that my symptoms would go away within a week. Just wondering, does anyone also have an experience with GERD and Zantac?

okay so for a while I’ve had this funky thing going on with my throat. It feels like there is a lump in there. but it also feels like the musckles at the sides of my neck are really tight. I get pains on the sides of neck and it hurts sometimes to swallow or take really deep breaths through my mouth. I also sometimes get pains just around the area near my adams apple would be if i had one. I do have phlegm coming up sometimes but its always clear.
My tonsils and glands are not swollen.
When I suck on mints it seems to go away for a little bit
its very irritating.
I’m 17 and dont have many GI problems, just ibs and sometimes i have symptoms of GERD.
could this be seasonal allergies or anxiety related?

A couple fridays ago I did some heavy physical activity at work, setting some lite poles, it takes your whole body to tighten down the nuts and that following wednesday I started to notice some pain in my sternum and on thursday I had the good idea to go for a run to see if it was heart related and no additional pain set in. Well the pain I was having seemed to set it saturday it was my sternum and then the upper part of both pectorals. That afternoon I took some ib profin and it seemed to clear it up and the pain started getting better. I was feeling around friday and found a muscle in each one of my pecs that was hard to the touch and a little tender, the left muscle more than right. I had also experienced some pain in the front of my neck which I assumed was the muscle pain as well. Today I decided to go to the doctor just to make sure it was nothing cardiac and he asked me all the questions and listened to my heart and lungs and said everything sounded normal. He told me to take 4 ib profin 3 times a day to get rid of inflammation. He also asked if I had a funny feeling in my neck I explained to him that the front of my next hurt a bit sometimes but not really a funny feeling. Well after I left the doc my next started to hurt again,maybe the power of persuasion, so I called the dr and the nurse told me it could be a symptom of gerd and that the ib profin would make that worse and if it did to take prilosec. Well the ib profin didn’t make it worse or better and I don’t have any other symptoms of gerd. I also chewed up 4 tums to see if that would help my neck and it did not. I have been having a post nasal drip probably because of allergies so maybe that’s it? The pain is on both sides of my adams apple towards the upper part of my neck. This is not constant pain maybe 3 times or so since injury. Also, when my neck it hurting and a breathe it does tickle my throat a bit and I do have a very mild dry cough. Maybe once or twice an hour. Nothing feels swollen just a little pain. It does hurt a little when I press on the area of the neck. Any thoughts? 26 year old male over weight but very active and non smoker

Okay so Last (July 2010) I got stomach flu, After this happened, My Anxiety Has Doubled!!! Constant fear thinking I am gonna throw up! && another thing is GERD, I Dont get heartburn but everyother symptom & have been dignosed with GERD & IBS.. Before Catching stomach Flu I was Fine, My Anxiety wasnt quite as bad && I didnt have GERD! The GERD is terrible, Nothing seems to wrk No medicines. Im feel so run down & just dont know what to do no more, Ive started seeing a counsler & hoping that helps the anxiety.. But Idk wat to do about the GERD at this point, It triples my anxiety.. Anyhow Long story short, Could the stomach bug I had last year , Somehow have done something to cause the GERD?? Ive always had IBS & Anxiety & depression.. But not GERD just this past year & Im tired of it!

i think i am suffering with acid reflux is there anything that i should be eating to help the symptom

first off i have anxiety,take kolonopin*, and two months ago i had my tonsils out lots of medication, now that i have been off meds for three weeks, i have worse anxiety, sweet taste in mouth, and always have been thirsty, my stomach has gerd like symptoms all the time but ppi i started a month ago don’t stop the reflux, pain in my abdomen, i don’t have a history of diabetes in my family and i’m not at all over or under weight, the pain is more on the right then the left top of ribs to back area and i have mild elevated biliruben count, tired a lot, sleepless nights, however i have had tests for kidney stones,blood work, and gallstones, also i don’t smoke or drink! and i have changed my diet to fish n bread for the most part! serious answers please!!!!!!!
