A co-worker just had a baby girl born with a FULL head of hair. Another co-worker claims that hairy babies cause heartburn- the new father agreed that his wife did suffer a lot of heartburn during her pregnancy. Anyone else ever hear of this? Know any reasons why it might be true, or is this just a pregnancy fairy tale? Thanks- just curious.

I don’t think I have ever had heartburn before… what are the symptoms… It feels like a pain in my chest but it is not constant… like every thirty seconds or so it throbs… I am 30 years old and have always eaten any and everything I want (spicy, citrus, all the things that normally cause heartburn) but I have never EVER had heartburn… I didn’t really even know what rolaids and tums were for… so WTF? Why is this happening now, and how the hell do I get rid of it…???

how come when you drink vinegar it stops heartburn and when you drink milk it also stops heartburn? They’re like opposites. And why do foods with acid in them like tomatoes and orange juice cause heartburn, but vinegar having a ton of acid stops it? It all makes no sense.

My mother-in-law claims that when she drinks water – even just a half glass – that she gets heartburn. She says this occurs regardless of whether the water is from the tap or is bottled. I have never heard of water causing heartburn. Has anybody else? I think it’s just her ingesting air while she drinks the water and I told her to try a straw.

I have Tourettes and a yelp as one of my tics and lately I have had some bad heartburn, which I believe it activating the heartburn. So, can the yelp be causing the heartburn? I eat relatively healthy and exercise.

My mom loves them but says they give her heartburn. Any idea why. Also the peels hurt my gums. Are these problems related?

I have been having severe heartburn for the past 10 months. I have completely given up all pop, chocolate, tomato and everything else that would cause heartburn. I dont eat anytime near bed and I take 80mg of protonix a day (double dose) and sometimes have to take liquid Maalox before bed to prevent heart palpitations.
I have noticed that the underwire from my bra causes an indent right at the top of my stomach. Would this be a cause for severe heartburn? I obviously have no way around this unless I have reduction surgery.
By the way I’ve seen a gastro dr, had 2 barium swallow xray studies, ultrasound and several other diagnostic tests and they found absolutely nothing wrong. I have NOT had an upper endoscope yet because of my extreme fear for "surgical procedure" and anesthia (sp).
