I woke up this morning with Heartburn?
I haven’t had anything to eat since last night at about 930. I woke up at 6:00 and have had heartburn for an hour now. Nothing has changed in my diet so I don’t know whats causing it.
PS. I’m 16.

I have GERD or acid reflux, I take medication but is too expensive to take all my life, I figure maybe if I can change my diet that will help me reduce or get rid of it, so I did some research and came up with this Diet but I’m not sure if it will help me since it says tomatoes are good but that a different list of vegetables to avoid when you have GERD says to avoid tomatoes so Im confused and dont know what to avoid or what to eat. Basically I’m trying to find a diet for GERD to follow and want to know if the akaline diet is a good one. PS: I’m already doing more chewing, not eating 3 hours before sleep, no beer, no soda, and blah, blah blah. all I need is a diet to follow. Thanks.

I have been having chronic heartburn/indigestion for months now. It used to come and go but now it’s every day, after every meal. I wake up, pop some tums, eat breakfast, tums, eat lunch, tums, eat supper, tums… then start all over… tums is only mildly helping with the burning and pain. I have tried Zantac, Pepto and other OTC meds… I don’t know what is causing it but it is getting worse.
When I was very young, I had stomach ulcers. I don’t remember the treatment I received but even after I had problems if i didn’t have "something" on my stomach.
I have struggled with my weight all of my life, and have tried to eat better. I do not like many veggies so I usually end up eating mostly meat/potatoes. Even when on a diet plan I still had heartburn/indigestion on occasion. I still am cutting back my intake of food but my indigestion has gotten worse – from first thing when I wake up and last all day. It normally doesn’t affect my sleep – that’s been the only time I get relief…
I am making an appointment with the doctor to see what is going on .. but any suggestion or input would be helpful
I’ve had very bad chronic acid reflux for about 4 or 5 years. Can Celiac disease cause GERD?
I’m thinking of trying a gluten free diet. Acid reflux has ruined my life. I can’t eat breakfast because I literally have to choke it down. For years I used to literally gag while eating breakfast lunch and dinner because I had difficulty swallowing. I used to get nauseous all the time. I’d get headaches after eating foods with tomato sauce. I’m hoarse all the time. My vocal chords have been permanently damaged and I fear I may never speak the way I used to. I sound mannish now. I sound so horrible. I hate my life because of the damage acid reflux has done.
Should I avoid gluten?
Don’t tell me "go to a doctor" the meds they gave me ruined my life.
I used to take protonix everyday for reflux, but it interfered with my iron intake for anemia, so my doctor took me off it. I was doing fine by being careful with my diet, keeping it bland. My mother is visiting this week and insists on making her greasy, fatty food. Twice this week I have had chest pains during the meal, to the point I felt short of breath and could feel my heart beating faster with dizziness, even though I was keeping to tiny portions. Is this because of the food (heartburn) or could it be because I have been exercising more the past 2 weeks as well?
since I will be on field always, cannot have food in time and eat either less or too much at once and this makes me acidic and suffer with heartburn and cannot have food in the night, due to this lot of mucus discharge in the stool…..Medicines do help little. Pls help with any remedy and thank you.
For years I have been struggling with odd symptoms. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Some have gone away some haven’t. I am wondering if there is something else behind my issues. I am 26 since I turned 20 I had an endoscopy, colonoscopy (Both at 20, found GERD and a small Hiatal), xrays, ultrasound, bloodwork. Nothing is ever found. I am starting to consider food allergies possible Wheat. I am not willing to take the IBS diagnosis unless it is last resort. My symptoms through the years have been the following:
GI Symptoms:
Diarrhea
Constipation
Loose, Flat and Ribbon Stool (Different Colors:Orange, Yellow, Gold, Green, sometime normal brown)
Left Sided Abdominal Pain (not severe but consistantly present, right underneath my ribcage)
Noisy stomach (Most on my left side and towards my lower back)
Foul Smelling gas at least 3-4 times a week
Gnawing feeling in stomach, indigestion
Excessive Gas
Other Symptoms (Possibly due to hypothyroid)
Fatigue
Anxiety/Depression/Irritable
Dry Skin (Especially Elbows and Knuckles)
Rashes (Boils)
Some Vision Issues
Cracking Skin on Feet
Back pain almost between shoulder blades and in lower back
Weight Gain
Brain Fog
Dry Lips
White Spots on teeth
I never have blood in the toilet or on my stools.
I recently started a gluten free diet (this past sunday). To see how it works. I know GF diet takes some time, so in the meantime, what do you guys think? Possible Celiac or Gluten Intolerant?
My diet has been so bad the past few years that I would even be able to tell you what foods I reacted and what ones I didn’t.
1.DO NOT DRINK JUICE (IT HAS ACID) 2.Make an appointment with your doctor 3.Try eating healthy foods like carrots,grape,apple,or maybe a salad. 4.Don’t lay on your back or stomach (It will make it hurt more) 5.If its HORRIBLE THEN GO TO EMERGENCY ROOM! 6.Take 10 deep breaths.
3 weeks ago i had started an early and short period which i have never done before. Right after i ended that i had started to get lower stomach cramps and heartburn. sometimes the stomach pain would travel to my back or my right leg. i had always had stomach pain, which the doc always said it was acid reflux, but it never was like this and i had changed my diet so i shouldnt have acid reflux anymore. Also people have told me it could be ovulating or maybe starting my period again since it was short. but its been 3 weeks. it shouldnt have lasted this long. anyone know what it could be?
