Is esophageal cancer a fast-growing cancer?
I am a 36-year-old female with Barrett’s esophagus and have endoscopies & biopsies one to twice annually. My last scope was on 12/30/08 (previous to that, it was on 12/2/07) and this time it showed significantly more bleeding as well as a "suspicious" spot. (I follow the GERD diet and eat tiny meals throughout the day rather than three big meals as well as take Nexium faithfully, so my GI doc is puzzled). I will find out next Tuesday if I have cancer or not. If I had cancer at this point (considering my December 2007 scope was fine, but my December 2008 scope is not), what are my chances of long-term survival? Would I still be at Stage 1?
(My third cousin on my mom’s side has esophageal cancer right now and my dad has Barrett’s esophagus, too.)
This third cousin is only 28-years-old.
and she is female.
should i worry about regular heartburn?
My mother has been suffering from fairly regular heartburn/indigestion. She says it’s a sensationas if something is stuck in her throat/burning sensation…
She has always suffered with anxiety and I’m wondering if it’s related?
Also, does anyone know the most effective methods of treatment/what to cut out of the diet? Thanks a lot for your help.,
A love for OJ is kicking my butt with heartburn, as are other foods. Help?
Very recently, heartburn has been added to my small list of ailments (pre-diabetic, anemic, and suspected gluten intolerance<– will be addressed)
Any normal heartburn trigger (tomatoes, orange juice, spicy food) has suddenly become a massive problem for me. Sure, I used to get that vague tingle if I ate pizza and drank OJ before bed, but nothing serious. Now, If I so much as nibble any citrus or tomatoes, I’m confronted with mouthfuls of bile and nearly debilitating burning and pain in my chest. All of the things that I’m now unable to eat, has put a massive dent in my diet (as I am unable to digest red meat properly, among other things).
At first, it was avoidable. But then I started getting that same bile-producing, chest burning symptom from BREAD. Anything with gluten in it (discovered by elimination diet) is destroying my insides. It was brought up that I may just have developed gluten intolerance, which I understand, but I’m starting to run out of things that I enjoy eating.
I know this may sound silly, but I am definitely a foodie. Cooking is a big part of my life. And I’m scared that my body is just rejecting anything that I put into it. I LOVE orange juice. And tomatoes. And spicy food. And I especially love pasta/bread. I know there are a lot of foods out there, but these are kinda the staples. I’m set to see a doctor next month (school is keeping me from going sooner), but my diet has consisted of nothing but dairy and some veggies because of these sudden episodes.
Does anyone know whats going on?
How to start dieting?
I’m 14 and I have really bad eating habits. My diet consists of junk and fattening foods. I want to change because I’m starting to get sick from it. I constantly have stomach aches and I already have GERD. I don’t know where to start though! I don’t want cravings and then I’ll be tempted to eat or drink whatever I’m craving. I just want to be healthy and get my eating habits under control. Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

I need a healthy diet guide for teenager with GERD & low blood preassure..?
I am 15 year old girl & I weigh 103 pounds … I have a bad habit of eating a lot of sweets & candy & fatty foods for snacks although I could say my mom feeds me healthy foods… For example for breakfast I eat hot chocolate wit extra extrra sugar, in school for lunch I have cheetos snickers & cookies wit milk, for dinner I will have something like beans with rice & meat after lunch ill have a sugary snack.. And then before bed I also have a sugary snack like chocolate or a twinkie etc.
My problem is that I developed something called GERD which is gastric reflux, it doesn’t let me sleep but I have been on medication for it , I stopped eating food late at night seein this was the cause to the GERD and I tried to cut back on the sugar since my great grandma has diabetes and I don’t wanna develop it as well… But last night I ate 3 bars of hersheys chocolate & I felt dizzy, my fingers and toes were tingling & my heart was racing.. I got scared and it seems to me like all the candy is doing something to me.. Maybe low blood preassure? Could that be eat… But anyways I want to know what healthy snacks I can change my diet for, I try eating yougurt but its so bitter and gross idk what else to buy that is healthy.. I like fruits as well but it doesn’t satisfy me .. How can I become more healthy I don’t want any complications at such a young age please help..
