For the last two weeks I've had terrible heartburn…I've never had it before — ever?
I thought perhaps it was from splenda. I removed splenda from my diet and took regular sugar with my tea.
I have no idea why. ant-acids don’t work too well.
Heartburn Gerd Causes, Symptoms & Treatments Questions
I thought perhaps it was from splenda. I removed splenda from my diet and took regular sugar with my tea.
I have no idea why. ant-acids don’t work too well.
For months now I’ve suffered extremely severe pain in my upper abdomen. I was diagnosed with sever GERD about a year ago but I’ve tried every antacid out there and my reflux symptoms have been persistent and worsened. Now this new severe, concentrated pain in my upper abdomen/stomach my doctor says is not caused by GERD.
I am getting an endoscopy soon and they are testing for H. Pylori which I know can cause ulcers but also stomach cancer. I don’t think it would be anything that severe because I am only 19 and reasonably healthy, but I feel it’s abnormal.
I’ve had change in bowel movements- constipation and diarrhea, heartburn, I get full faster, a bloated feeling in my upper abdomen after eating, weakness and dizzy spells, and fatigue.
All I know is that it’s not just GERD or irritable bowel syndrome, so does anyone have any ideas what it could be?
My doctors will never give me their opinions or thoughts because of malpractice insurance all they say is "well, we might not find anything" and if they don’t then what?
My diet has been so limited because of the pain and my life is affected by it everyday. I want to figure out what this is and get rid of it already so I can be a normal 19 year old.
I feel these symptoms everyday, if not all of them at least most of them.
I used to eat peanut butter, chips, raw cookie dough, and bananas when I was a kid and I had no problems. But now every time I eat them I get severe chest pain. Even if its just one bite, it feels as if a suicide bomber blew up inside my chest. Why do these foods cause me chest pain.
Also I went to 3 different doctors about it and I got 2 different answers
1. Gas
2. Heartburn
one was no response.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I’ve set up a doctor’s appointment but until then I’d very much like to get some answers now because it’s really starting to irritate me.
The deal: I’m sixteen years old and lately I’ve been getting a lot of heartburn. It started a few months ago and up until now I thought it was because of drinking too much caffeine so I stopped that. I also took prilosec and these both appeared to work. However, just recently I’ve gotten it two times unexpectedly. I don’t eat junk food and I haven’t had mass amounts of caffeine either.
I’m worrying about it being due to the fact that I’ve dropped around 70 pounds by choosing to do a medically supervised diet since January. That’s over and I usually eat normally now. I’m beginning to think my body is just really angry with me after that and attacking at me with whatever it can. D; Could this be it because it’s the only major health change that I’ve gone through..?
Lately to stop it I drink two tablespoons of baking soda in water and take 3 tums. It works after a little while. Even though this works I’d like to prevent it completely.
If you have any advice or info please let me know because this is horribly painful and scary and I’d very much like it to end.
I took a diet pill that worked wonder for me and lost few kilos in 3 weeks. Then all of a sudden, I developed cracked tongue which was also swollen and hurt to much. My tonsils got swollen and red and my esophagus was infected as well. I am sure it had to do with the pills so I went to see a doctor which gave me medicine and in about a week it was better. As being stubborn, I took a pill again because I loved the weight loss that I had, and within few hours I felt my tongue burning again. So I stopped it..
Now, since then, almost 2 weeks, I have been having ulcers on my mouth and heartburn. MY ESOPHAGUS IS ON FIRE!
It isnt severe, but VERY uncomfortable.!!
Do you think that I have acid in my stomach? what should I do? should I see a doctor ASAP? please someone advice since this is the first time I go thru this..
Sincerely,
A desperate woman

In a nutshell, I was diagnosed with diverticulitis as well as acid reflux (mild GERD) awhile back and have had to make some changes in my diet…one of these being alcohol. I’ve read everywhere that there is no real connection between alcohol and diverticulitis (not sure if that is true), though there is definite connection between alcohol and acid reflux. I’ve read many things about beer vs. wine vs. mixed drinks and their effects on these two particular conditions–both sides of the fence. Personally, mixed drinks (e.g. rum and coke) and wine don’t bother me with the exception of mild acid reflux here and there. On the other hand, beer (as well as cider and malt beverages) causes me bad acid reflux and, sometimes, slight discomfort in my diverticuli. I have since stopped drinking beer and the like, and have even cut down on the mixers. My main question: Why is this?! As stated before, I’ve read all kinds of information dealing with this issue and the answers tend to be all over the place. Is there any scientific reasoning for why beer and malts bother me while mixers (which also contain carbonation, yeast, mash) do not? VERY anxious to have some kind of explanation for this…
Thank you!
Oh, I should add that that amount of drinks consumed were always about the same, so it’s not an issue of "six beers vs. two mixers."

I had Mexican yesterday and I’ve had heartburn since last night . Usually I don’t get heartburn after I eat Mexican food
Okay long story short, I’ve gone through plenty doctor appointments to know that it probably isn’t something serious, but I just want to see if anybody has had similar experiences. Initially my vocal chords were swollen and I also have cobblestoning in my throat, so my throat is acutely sore pretty much all of the time, but the past few days it has gotten worse, and I noticed a hard gritty bump in my throat with my tongue, because previously, I had discovered my cobblestoning by feeling on the sides of my throat with my tongue.
I was diagnosed with GERD and so I took basically everything unhealthy out of the diet, and drink only water and eat only the main food groups yet i’ll occasionally have something greasy. The past few days I have been eating nothing but bad food because of Christmas and such so I think that it may have something to do with it, but I am still skeptical.
Okay so i just looked at the side of my throat in the mirror with a flashlight, and its an oval shaped white spot that feels hard and gritty on my tongue. I touched it with my finger and it came right off, it was like in my throat and now there is a hole there. Any ideas?
