I’ve read that antacids have a risk of overdose. I have extremely bad GERD and have found that taking calcium carbonate supplements are effective at treating. Sometimes I wind up taking an extra couple chewable tablets than recommenced (containing only calcium carbonate) and was wondering if this really is posing a risk to my health, or if, like most other medications, in practicality a few extra wont do damage.
I am currently also taking 40mg protonix (proton pump inhibitor) daily

Is it completely different from acid reflux? I feel kinda crappy this afternoon, sort of like chest pains right in the center of my chest, but not sure if that’s what heartburn feels like.
Ahh, then this probably isn’t heartburn. Thanks!

My son has GERD n spits up a lot n every often. He’s also has trouble with pooping so when he does the restroom it’s mostly a very full diaper. So I shower him to clean him. It also calms him but I’m scared that I can be damaging his skin. I use aveeno n use cream every day on him. Would that help in keeping his skin from drying out? Is it okay to shower him everyday?

i NEVER have burning sensation or pain.
so i always thought my digestive problems is definitely not heartburn or reflux. after some research on internet i think it might be. my symptoms: almost constantly bloated upper stomach (right under rib cage) – doesn’t look bloated at all but i feel like i’ve swallowed a baloon. the pressure sometimes moves to my chest or lower abdomen. my lower abdomen looks like i’m pregnant. all this is not affected by any particular food. it’s only gone in the morning but as soon as i swallow something it starts again.
over the counter antacids doesn’t work. i also saw many doctors any had many tests, everything was ok.
does this sound like it could be heartburn? anything else? any help will be appreciated.

Well I have been to the doctor three times now and they say its allergies. I know that I do have alleregies but for the past week or so I have had this sensation of something stuck in my throat and it usually doesnt start bothering me until around lunch time. Then after it starts it gets really bad. It does burn and like I said before it feels like something is stuck in my throat. I dont have heartburn and I know that you can have this and not have heart burn. But if you do have this does the feeling last almost all day?????(when you are on no medicine) Thanks so much.. Please dont answer if you are going to say something that is way out of the way.

I’m 16, and since about a few months ago, I’ve been having, what I think is, Acid Reflux. I get that sour stomach/acid stomach feeling, nausea, heartburn, acid burping, and that feeling you get in your throat, like, a choked up feeling. I don’t vomit, but I have that nauseating feeling that I’m going to. I also have these sharp pains in my sides. I have no idea what this is, but it is horrible. And I want to know what it could be, and how I could treat, whatever it is. Please and thank you. (:
