I am 40 and have Hypertension for no known reason.

For medication, the doctor gave me Diovian, and Norvasec. These seem to work well. I do get light headed sometimes after taking the Diovian.

Then he gave me the Toprol XL. I started suffering from heartburn; sensitivity to bright lights, and light headedness. I could not sleep (nightmares). I’d get random erections when I was just idling (while driving, or watching TV)

He reduced the Toprol XL, and things got a little more normal. I still could not sleep. So I started taking Melatonin (one when I got home, and one shortly before bed). I discovered my blood pressure went way down. Is this because I am sleeping better, or does the stuff really help my blood pressure?

Melatonin is really cheap. Today I just take Diovian, Norvasec, Melatonin, and B vitamins. I have pretty much normal blood pressure all the time. Once in a while it goes up
What works for you?

My daughter is 13. Ever since she was a baby, she has had Acid Reflux. But now she gets it all the time! Is it unusual? Should I take her to the doctor? I heard it ruins the lining in the stomach. She said that she wakes up at night with heartburn and then takes a Tums and goes back to sleep. Is she going to have this disease for the rest of her life? Or will medication treat it?

Has anyone here ever had silent acid reflux? I’m talking a cough (post nasal drip) or hoarse throat but without the heartburn or symptoms of normal acid reflux.

How did you get treated for it? Is it the same treatment as regular acid reflux?

I used to have regular reflux but I got treated for it…what I didn’t realize was that it just turned into silent reflux.

I really want t get rid of this and get it treated. I’ve heard surgery can do it as well but I’d really like a response from yahoo answers first.

im 26 weeks and ive been getting heartburn for a while now but whenever i drink cold milk it will go away but the past 2 days it has gotten worse and milk isn’t working at all, what are some cures that will work? please im desperate lol

I get my heartburn back 3 days after the 14 day treatment of Prevacid. Bottle says not to take another 14 day dose until after 4 months have passed. I’ve have already been to a Gastroenterologist and he said I have GERD. He prescribed the Prevacid prescription at least a couple years ago, and when it became OTC, I’ve just been taking that. I’ve been taking Prevacid for a long time now and have ignored the 14 day treatment period and have pretty much just been popping these things almost every day for the last couple years. Am I doing any long term damage to myself? I’m 31.

Metoclopramide was given to me by my OB to increase my breast milk production. When I filled the prescription the paperwork given to me said it was for heartburn and other digestive problems but didnt say anything about lactation. Has anyone else been prescribed this? Where could I find what this drug is for? Will this medication harm my baby at all?

i have heard that siping apple cider vinegar in this way cures IBS and heartburn. i’d like to try it, but don’t want to risk hurting my unborn child.

I am 8 weeks pregnant.

Ive had upper right abdomonal pain for 1 month now. It feels like its along the inside of my ribs. I did have a low positive for h.pylori bacteria in my stomach but ive just finished the triple treatment for that and my doctor said teh bacteria can only account for the stomach pain and heartburn.
Ive had 2 upper abdominal ultrasounds and xray and i had a chest xray 3 months ago.
Does anyone know what could cause this pain? I have no breathing difficulties and for precaution my heart has been checked many times.

No one say gallstones cos we all thought that considering the pain goes into my back but even the scans i had just 2 days ago say every organ is fine and measure normal.
