heartburn causes and cures?

Lately I have had severe heartburn after eating. I cannot afford medication. What is a good home remedy.

Ok so just recently on Monday I had my first trip to the gynecologist and this is my first time meeting this doctor, so there’s no patient/doctor relationship between us. He tells me that it looks like I have bacterial vaginosis and I’m thinking is this why I’ve had so many other problems like UTI & a pelvic infection? I’m just now learning what that is exactly and I’m asking myself how long have I had this because I remember back in 9th grade or so, I’ve noticed an odor & discharge from my vaginal area. It really bothered me, the odor made me feel uncomfortable and I tried talking to my mom about it but she didn’t seem too concerned about it and I couldn’t go to a gynecologists. No matter how much I clean, the odor is there & discharge (sometimes discharge is a lot).

The doctor prescribed some antibiotics called Flagyl (the most horrible thing ever) and they’re not fitting well with my body at all. I have other issues going on like tingling in hands or leg sometimes, feeling like I might pass out or whatever, terrible anxiety and stress and I HATE the thought of taking anymore antibiotics because they all give me terrible heartburn. Even though the doctor said it shouldn’t bother my heartburn but it set me way back with my heartburn. Which I’m taking prevacid as well & those side effects are already enough, I’m not one who likes foreign things (pills) to be in my body all the time. THERE HAS TO BE another way to treat bacterial vaginosis & the health of your vagina??

i.e. like some kind of prescribed creams, over the counter creams, feminine soaps, natural treatments, just anything

Reglan for heartburn?

Has anyone taken Reglan for heartburn? I have heartburn and acid reflux that hasn’t responded to any medication, so my doctor put me on Reglan before each meal and before bedtime. I’d love to hear anyone’s experience with it and if it caused any side effects.

Im 8 months pregnant & I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been feeling like a have a hair in my mouth and stuck in the back of my throat for over 2 weeks now. It makes me wanna gag all the time. No matter how many times I rinse my mouth during the day, brush my teeth, use mouthwash, drink cups and cups of water…the sensation won’t go away! This isn’t the first time I felt this, it happened to me 3 or 4 times before in the past year and I don’t understand why. And I am CERTAIN it is not really a hair! Can anyone please explain to me the cause of this, why I’m getting this feeling and if there is anything I can or should do to help solve this problem because it isn’t fun living like this :’(

I’ve been to a general family doctor, got referred to a pulmonary specialist, and then an ear, nose, and throat doctor. They said everything looks normal. He even looked down my throat using a scope. He believed it was acid reflux, which is strange because I’ve never noticed any problems with my digestion or felt any heartburn. However, I listened to the advice of the doc and took Prevacid for the 14-day treatment. No positive results, I’m still feeling the same :’(

Is this a common or rare problem, are there any others who feel the same? And how have you dealt with it? Have you gone to the doc and did they diagnose your prob?

I only have heartburn infrequently, every few months or so, so it isn’t a huge problem for me, but when it happens, I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried Tums, Pepto, Zantac (sp?) and even a baking soda dissolved in water. However, the only thing that ever works for me is just a glass of milk. I find whole milk works better than low fat milk. My question is why does this work? What is it about milk that instantly cures my heartburn? Furthermore, why does whole milk work better. It must have something to do with the fat content, buy why? Anybody know?
By the way, I HATE drinking milk, and to me it is even more vile than the baking soda solution I have tried a few times, haha.
I appreciate your comment, herodyssey, but contrary to what you say, in my experience milk completely cures my heartburn every time and it does not return. The science behind your explanation may be right, but my experience has definitely shown otherwise.
Oh but herodyssey, I do like the website you linked to. Lots of good information there, so thanks for the link.

Rolaids don’t help.

I took 3 days worth of my Z-Pack my doctor prescribed for strep throat- After day 3 I had heartburn and later started throwing up (This was last night/early this morning). My doctor is switching my medication and my question is how long until I should feel better? Or at least stop throwing up! I really need to go to work!
