It could be acid reflux caused by a hiatus hernia.

I cannot understand why you have not been offered an endoscopy, this will definatively check out your gastric system.

I understand that you are cutting back on certain food groups, but try eating small meals at regular intervals, rather than three meals a day spread it out to six.

Keep off fizzy drinks and spicy foods, sleep with you bed propped up at the head end (you mentioned that this did help, so why not continue like this), don't bend over nor stoop use your knees to get lower.

If you are not on any medication, take an over the counter product, gaviscon, rennies etc at regular intervals, not when you get symptoms, perhaps before each meal, but follow the directions on the packet essentially.

IF you do all of the above and notice some improvement then you are on your way to helping yourself.

Long term acid reflux can cause significant changes in your stomach lining which you want to be extra vigilant about.

SO get to your doctor and ask for a gastroscopy, where a specialist will introduce a flexible scope into your stomach via your mouth, it's usually a five minute procedure, because you really should not have to carry on blindly like this.

If they refuse go get a second opinion.

However, sometimes the diagnosis just means you have to go on antacids all the time, a prescription medicine like Omeprazile.

If you have a hiatus hernia, there is usually nothing offered surgically unless you really have an absolutely huge one.

Most people I come in contact with, feel relieved that there is nothing horribly wrong and feel so much better with Omeprazole and a few life changes, such as diet etc already mentioned. Of course your reflux could be caused by many other things, but my hunch is that you are suffering what I have described like thousands and thousands of other people, so don't worry (this can cause an increase in stomach acid production). A hiatus hernia is a problem many people suffer with and can generally run in families..

Good luck

When taking antibiotics the course of treatment should be completed, because if not the condition will return, and the bacteria causing the infection will have developed resistance to the antibiotics.
I have acid reflux and take a Mebeverine tablet half an hour before food in the morning. They are very good-as are peppermint capsules. At the moment being on a strict diet seems to have done the trick. Doctors also have found that prescribing a very low dose of an antidepressant also works. I know it works because I used to take them also.

All of the foods you mentioned can irritate reflux. Avoiding them will not sure it, but it shouldmake it ease up some. Once you get it the only way to treat it is with medication. You can try some OTC medications like Prilosec, Tums etc. But it may need some stronger like Protonix etc by perscription.

Sounds like reflux. You don't have to have all of the symptoms, just some.

How was the H pylori diagnosed. It can be done with blood work. But most likely you need an endoscopy. If it is indeed H pylori, then you need to complete the antibiotics. H pylori is a bacteria that can cause symptoms you describe. if the antibiotics cause side effects, contact the doctor.

My husband has both acid reflux and barretts (caused from the acid). Many nights he has literally jumped out of bed thinking his throat is on fire. He too has had many sleepless nights and miserable days. We had 2 4x4 blocks of wood under the head of the bed for a while (not comfortable). He has gone to the doctor and had all the tests, and meds. He is now uninsurable because of all the tests and meds! He has had this for many years, we have tried all the natural cures. He could go thru a big bottle of pepcid in a week. He always had his pockets full of them. (BTW a big bottle of pepcid is over $20) This past september we were given a natural botanical juice called seven+. this is a juice made from the 7 super fruits. We began taking the juice and since then he has had maybe 5 bouts with this disease. This stuff is all natural and completely good for you! It can't hurt you and if it does for you what it did for him it is worth a try. Good luck!
