foods that dont cause or promote heartburn?
my boyfriend has had acid reflux for several years now. he has been on medication for a long time, and has recently decided to go off of it, because of certain side effects he has been feeling. So we are trying to adjust his diet, but we arent sure what foods are less likely to cause heartburn. I know most of the triggers are acidic foods, citris foods, dark soda… he said even eating a piece of bread seems to make more stomach acid and makes the heartburn worse. Please if anyone has ANY info on the subject i would appreciate it very much, i hate seeing him in so much pain every day from it.
(also, if anyone knows of any treatments, surgeries, or anything else feel free to let me know!)

I have acid reflux, and my suggestion is that he should stay away from cheese. I have acid reflux disease, i was diagnosed with it when i was like four months old, and for some reason whenever i eat cheese it irritates my stoumach. Also if you weigh alot it can effect how bad the reflux is. I also heard something about how stress can effect it, too.
these things may be causing it-
-chronic conditions
-Alcohol
-Smoking
-medication- certain medications can lead directly to acid reflux.
-food allergies
and much more.
i found this interesting article on acid reflux- it might help- its from a womens website, but it has some simple suggestions. goodluck, hope your boyfriend feels better.

Have him eat a good yogurt every day for breakfast. Get one like Dannon Vanilla, it doesn’t have all the junk in it like some do. If he eats a Natural diet of fruits, veggies, raw nuts and low fat cheese and baked chicken and fish, only water, 100% fruit juices like grape or apple and stick with it for a few weeks, he should see a big change! He should sort of graze all day eating small amounts til hunger is gone instead of eating three big meals a day. Just have the healthy stuff ready to grab so he doesn’t think about what he thinks as good stuff! Most people don’t feel that they can make this big of change in their diet, I used to be one of them, but after trying it, it was so worth the effort and you get used to it, just like you do anything else, if you give yourself time to! I haven’t eaten fast food in 4 1/2 years and now it’s gross to even think about eating it!
