Have any of you ever had Gerd while pregnant? What medicines did your doctor prescribe and what were your symptoms?
Thank you!

i had gerd before my pregnancy and needless to say the pregnancy has not helped. i was taking the prescription drug Nexium before i got pregnant, my ob said it was fine to keep taking them through my pregnancy. I’m 36 weeks and have been taking the pills the whole time and everything has been perfect with the baby so far. I did do some research though cause i was still skeptical about taking any kind of pills while pregnant and from everything i found online the Nexium is perfectly safe. I still have to use antacids though, i like Gaviscon. As far as symptoms go, mine can get pretty severe. I get really bad pains in the pit of my stomach that feel like really bad hunger pains. And of course the severe heartburn, its so bad i want to cry at times. I cannot explain how much pain it causes me. I think the gerd has developed into something worse so I’m going to get some testing done after the baby comes and see whats going on. I’m thinking i have an ulcer but i don’t know. At your next appointment ask your doc about Nexium maybe it will help you more than it helps me. good luck.
I had it bad with both of my pregnancies. It felt like my stomach and throat were on fire after I ate. I took TUMS which are good as they help the GERD and also have calcium in them. I think I also took Prilosec during my last pregnancy (4 years ago so don’t remember for sure!).
