I had terrible heartburn for my entire pregnancy also, but I also had Reflux before I got pregnant. As far as at home rememedies, milk worked well for me, lots and lots of milk. On a side note, I gave birth to my daughter 3 weeks early and she was 10lbs. 9oz. with a crazy amount of hair. The people in the room all commented as she was crowning, wow, look at all that hair! To which my response at that moment was lets get her out and talk about how much hair she has after!!! Best of luck to you and congratulations!!

I soooooo know how you feel with the heartburn! I never had it until I was pregnant. Whole milk cured it for me. I ate all of my meals with whole milk, and with that, I was fine....and yay! No heartburn. My doctor thought it was weird, but I swear it worked for me. I am not sure how skim milk would do, but they do say during pregnancy, skim milk is more nutritious because the fat in the whole milk blocks the nutrients. But, it was my first full-term pregnancy and I was going to enjoy the whole milk......

Well the hair growing heart burn connection is real! the chemical in your body that causes heartburn is the same chemical that causes fetal hair growth. I had awful heartburn and had a hairy baby too. if your heartburn is really bad your doctor can prescribe you something stronger than tums. also try sleeping propped up if it is at night when it gets bad. that should help some too

hope this helps

I had the worst heartburn so bad with my first child. I had to sleep sitting up, I couldn't eat after 7pm, I didn't eat anything spicy, I ate small meals. With that pregnancy I took Zantac over the counter and also drank 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with 4 oz of water every two hours. I started swelling and had to stop the baking soda when I was about 33 weeks. Sorry to burst your bubble, my baby was born with just a little hair and he still doesn't have a whole lot and he just turned one. I'm pregnant again and my doctor said that Nexium has been approved for pregnancy and it has worked wonders for me!

I had really BAD heartburn with both my pregnancies. My babies were 8lbs 9oz & 9lbs 5oz and neither had very much hair.

Oh, as for home remedies, I never found one that worked. Someone told me to try a spoonful of mustard, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

I don't have any remedies for you, sorry. As for the hair thing, it's a myth. I had such bad hearburn with my first baby it actually made me sick a couple times... he was bald (weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz)! I barely had heartburn with my second and he had a headful of hair (weighed 8 lbs, 13 oz)!

Good Luck!

I realy sympathize with you on this. I had terrible hearburn with both of my pregnancies, and tums just dodnt cut it. Honestly, I just had to deal with it, but I chewed gum after I ate to try to help neutralize stomach acid, I ate small meals throughout the day and if I ate something them got heartburn, I didnt eat it anymore. You can also try not lying down or reclining for at least an hour after you eat, as well as eating slowly. Hope this helps!
