Heartburn Gerd Causes, Symptoms & Treatments Questions
A doctor can specifically zero in on the problem and give you the best medicine. Nexium is a really good one that worked for me. Lay off the acidic (caffeine, spicy, tomatoes, citris fruits), that could cut the acid. But the doctor can tell you if you just have acid reflux, ulcer, or an ulcer caused by H. pylori which will take a big round of antibiotics.
have u seen a doc?
best thing to do it to see a doc mate!
eating a satsuma or half an orange a day will help.
See a doctor or go to the hospital …. as soon as possible …. if it hurts then your body is telling you something
Prilosec
PEPTO BISMAL!!!!!!!!!!
ever hear the song? "nausia, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarreah. yea pepto bismal!"
SEE A DOCTOR BEFORE YOU START HAVING SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS LIKE STOMACH BLEEDING!!!
I used to have something called ‘aludrox’ from the chemist you don’t need a prescription. Its like a chalky liquid. You can get it as tablet form too.
Pepto Bismo, I`m serious. And an ulser, you can wash your mouth out with salt water. I know its nasty, but it works.
i get that all the time, gaviscon works for me. avoid acidic food and drink as well, like citrus fruits
you should get to a doctor and let them tell you!
I have a duodenal ulcer and am prescribed RANATIDINE from my GP. You can buy this in a weaker form over the counter – marketed as ZANTAC 75 – take 4 of them and they will work in a couple of hours – brilliant relief. But do go and see a GP as soon as possible to make sure it is an ulcer and get a long term solution xxxxxxxx
I’m a nurse. There are so many otc medication now for your indigestion. However you need to see the doctor for treatment of a possible ulcer. It’s best to find out if you actually have an ulcer. You could be wrong and something else could be going on in your body. See your primary doctor.
If tums and rolaids are not working for you, avoid eating acidic, citric food…lay off the spices. IF you think there is a possibility of an ulcer, see a doctor and you will be prescribed these small brown pills, depending on your results.
hi you must’nt eat any thing fatty take zantac it will line your stomache .but you must go to your gp take care
If your pain is ’severe’ as you say I think seeing a doctor would be the best thing to do.
Avoid all fatty food- chips, fry ups, Chinese, Indian, kebabs etc..Avoid cucumber, tomatoes and citric acid foods. Drink plenty of water and take a few rennies. To be honest with you, if it continues GO SEE THE DOCTOR.
i think you should deff see your doctor and see about a change of diet, there are also food alergy tests you can have, most health shops do them.
I have suffered from this for more than 25 years. I tried everything from the chemist that could be bought over the counter and nothing was strong enough (including Gaviscon Advance). After 16 years I moved to a new area and got another doctor who prescribed Lansaprozole – the atom bomb of antacids!
Sometimes I get really incredible pains in my stomach that come in waves and last about 3 hours. These pains are so bad that I equate them with childbirth (and I know all about that; I’ve got four children). I have even taken to hospital in an ambulance three times before this was diagnosed.
Now I have the Lansaprazole I can take one when I feel the pains starting and withing minutes the pain is gone.
Other things you can do to help yourself are, avoid greasy food, acidic food, and hot spicy food. Avoid wearing anything tight around your waite and sleep with the head of your bed raised up about 5 inches – and if you already have bad acid pains sit up rather than lie down. Once when I had the really bad pains I waited for the 3 hours and when I felt a bit better I lay down (it was about 2am), the acid immediately started burning again and I was ill for another 2 hours.
I wish you well and also advise you to see your doctor so he can find out why you keep having this problem.
you need to change your diet. you have a severe health problem and you are damaging your body. immediately stop eating anything that may increase acidity in your body. read some sites about acid/alkaline diet to get an idea what these are. no fried food, beef, chocolate, hot sauce, coffee, tea, cigarettes, juice. also (temporarily) stop eating as many of the common allergen foods as possible – milk, wheat, eggs, peanuts, I forget the others. never have soda drinks or sour drinks or junk food. basically you can have any non starchy vegetable I would guess, favoring leafy green vegetables, brown rice, chicken or fish for protein, and maybe some olive oil and avocadoes for the fat. finding your correct balance of fats is important. those foods sound pretty safe to me. (later you need to add in all the other healthful foods one at a time, seeing if they bother you) i dunno, maybe one of those bothers you. throw that into a salad and eat it for 2 weeks. then go to a specialist, which i guess is a gastroenterologist?, and have yourself throughly checked out. hopefully by then you at least won’t be getting heartburn. you still probably need to find out if you’ve damaged yourself.
you could use a TUMS for the times when you eat a mistake food (assuming that your problem does happen to be caused by food) but i wouldn’t suggest using them often.. i don’t know if all that calcium is a good idea. but i DO suggest a calcium supplement to bring yourself up to about 100% RDA. (TUMS is like 1000%) Also, if dairy products don’t seem to bother you, then they may help you. Plain yogurt has some very healthful properties. Find a quality multivitamin (i like twinlab) that does not upset your stomach. Also I suggest fish oil. look up the raw ginger cure, it may work. bananas can alleviate heartburn. drink lots of (at least filtered) water. Avoid preserved foods.
And do your research, cause I’m just makin’ shit up.
I think you would benefit from a visit to your doctor. These symptoms could be a number of things: ulcers, which can sometimes be heliobacter bacteria and treated with antibiotics; esophageal erosion; or perhaps gall bladder attacks. At any rate, you need to have a m.d. check you out. In the meantime, use a bland diet, elevate the head of your bed about 30 degrees; no eating 3 hours before bedtime. Lay off caffiene, carbonated drinks, spicey and fatty foods. You might try several small meals instead of larger ones. And drink lots of water! Good luck to you; please have a check up. Blessed holidays!
Gaviscon advanced. If this does not work you should see your doc you may have to have triple therapy. This is caused by an infection in the gut especially if you think you have an ulcer. Hope this helps
speak to yopur doctor, but in the meantime go to the pharmacy and ask for ranitidine, it is the best you can get over the counter. if they have an ulcer you need to have tests done. honestly try ranitadine i used it and its great.
