First if you are on or taking any heartburn medication you'll need to stop. If it is prescription definately talk to your doctor about what you want.
Second if you are getting heart burn b/c of lack of acid then try drinking vinegar before eating. Yep it's gross in my opinion but the extra acid from the vinegar will help.

You got this one twisted. Heartburn is the result of too much stomach acid. If you are having severe heartburn there are several things you can do. First go see a doctor. Second drink some milk. Third eat some crackers. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. Remember too much stomach acid causes heartburn, so you don't really want to increase it, so much as DECREASE it.

Good luck!!

my magic solution was not drinking water with my meal. water dilutes your stomach acids ...which means they can't work as well ... and later on there's heartburn. stop drinking 15 minutes before your meal and don't drink for about 45 minutes after. it worked wonders for me.

You don't want to 'build up' stomach acid. Try the following:

1) Acetic acid tablets or apple cider vinegar
2) digestive enzymes like papaya (health food stores)
3) Refrain from eating past 6pm (1800)

You don't want to build up the acid as several people have said. You want to DECREASE the acid.

Stay away from high acid foods and drinks(ie. tomatoes, oranges, and soda) also, stay away from sugars. You should also see a doctor. Heartburn that continues to return could lead to some serious problems (ie. ulcers, scar tissue on your vocal cords and cavities from the acid eating away at the enamel on your teeth)
