There are many options for managing your heartburn without medicine.
When pregnant you should absolutely avoid any antacids as they usually contain aluminium hydroxide which results in diarrhea and eventually neuro toxic effects of the brain and nervous system – bad for you and your baby.
A few other recommendations for preventing and treating heartburn are:
1. Don’t over eat
2. Each day drink a glass of fresh celery or cabbage juice.
3. While having your meal sip 1 tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar mixed with a glass of water. This should be the only liquid you have with your meal.
4. Juice up a raw potato (including the skin) – mix the juice with an equal measure of water. The juice should be drunk immediately after preparing it and for best results should be taken 3 times a day.
5. Have smaller meals on a more regular basis and include as many fresh and raw vegetables as possible.
6. Fresh pineapple and papaya are well known fruits that can aid in digestion.
7. Uphold a regular gentle exercise routine, while avoiding weight lifting and running. For best results in managing your heartburn it is best to exercise before eating.
8. Avoid processed foods, caffeine products, carbonated drinks, fried foods, fats and sugars. Healthy raw fruit and vegetables are your best friend when it comes to avoiding heartburn.
9. Maintain a peaceful lifestyle, while avoiding stress and anger when ever possible.
10. Gingerroot is also worth trying as it has been shown to be very effective with managing heartburn.
11. Raise the head of your bed by 4-6 inches
12. Ensure that you eat at least 2-3 hours before lying down
13. Avoid tight clothing
Hope these natural heartburn relief tips help in some way.
Maybe try drinking milk….thats what I did, and I think it helped. I was against taking any meds too, but I gave in with the Tums a couple of times….I had a lot of heartburn.
My sister drank papaya nectar. That is supposed to help. Drinking milk also helps. My doctor told me I could take Tums, so that is what I always took.
When it flairs up really bad drink milk and cut back on the water until it subsides. If you keep pumping your stomach full of water you just neutralize what is already there and you’ll produce more bile. I made the mistake of drinking water once because I was out of milk and I paid for it the entire night. You can also take tums.
I found that my heartburn was usually caused by hunger and would be worst in the middle of the night so before I went to bed I would make a peanut butter sandwich and put it by the bed. The bread would soak up the acid and the peanut butter would fill me up. Also saltine crackers, toast with light butter, and milk work. Anything absorbant will help soak up the acid. Also try using an extra pillow to prop your upper body up so that the acid stays down, also don’t sleep on your right side. When you lay on your right side, the angle of your stomach is downward making it much easier for the acid to leak out and up your esophagus.
yogurt with live cultures is said to help with heartburn.
chewing raw almonds also helps most people. many people say the raw almonds have spectacular results.
