How long does heartburn last? And what do you do to get rid of it?

I’ve never had heartburn before (Not even when I was pregnant!) and now I’m going on 6 hours of this horid pain and pressure in my chest and I’m going crazy here. I’ve already taken alka-seltzer and zantac. What else can get rid of heartburn? This really sucks.
I’m only 25 and 115lbs.
Thanks! I’ll try some milk. I’m lactose intolerant, but I’m willing to do anything at this point!
THANKS!

Sounds really strange. You should call a doctor and get it checked out. They could tell you better than anyone on here.
Milk always helped for me – drinking it slowly. However, wow, if those aren’t helping you may want to see a doctor.
McFly – you are hilarious. Pretend to be a doctor, yet you can’t spell "knew."
If that dont help I would see a Dr could be your heart .I dont know your age but woman can sometimes have that as a sign of heart trouble
Tums.. Tums. Tums..!! They are a life saver.. Also pepto works for that. & Try eating some ice cream.
Hello, I just recently had a patient come in and complain about this horrible pain in her chest. She explained to me her chest felt tight and it, at times, hurt to breath. As she told me these symptoms, I without a doubt, new this could only be heartburn. Even minor heartburns hurt. I told her to use Prilosec. This medicine had to be once prescribed, but is now sold over the counter. With what you have told me, your heartburn has been going on for quite some time. I advise you to get this, and consult your doctor on how frequently to use this.
First of all make sure it really is heartburn, if its a burning sensation at the upper part of your abdomen just below the breast bone, with some tenderness when you press gently at this area, then it is likely that it is. Zantac is good but it takes a little while to work, milk as mention is good, but you may prefer to try something like gaviscon or pepto bismol or if you can’t get to pharmacy try mints like polo’s. Steering clear of oily / fried foods/pastries may help prevent this coming back. I hope this helps.
Pepto Bismol would cool you down.
I always try all natural remidies they seem to work
can search them on yahoo or google
