Heartburn Gerd Causes, Symptoms & Treatments Questions
Gaby: First of all let me tell you that heartburn has nothing to with the heart. The problem is the slackness of your muscles at the base of your oesophagus {or food pipe}.So lets tell you about the do’s and don’ts to relieve this heartburn .Do avoid alcohol, asprine, and fatty or very acidic foods. They are known to aggravate heartburn.Avoid bending over.Squat or kneel with a stright back. Do not over eat
or become overweight, avoid laying down immediately after eating,do not smoke as it will weaken the muscular opening from your gullet into your stomach this will be allowing acid to flow back into your stomach. to prevent heartburn try to prop yourself up in bed with an extra pillow or elevate your head by 10-15cm this will keep your stomach acids to flowing in the right direction while you sleep. Try to take milky drinks and antacids which will coat the oesophagues . Hope that this is of some help to you.
