Is eating Jalapenos or other Spicey foods bad for the pregnancy or is it only cuz of the heartburn?

I like spicy foods, and now that I’m pregnancy I seem to crave it from time to time, my dad and my husband tell me not to eat it, but will it hurt my baby in any way, or is it only based on the discomfort it will cause me in a few hours?

it really is up to you and what you can stomach. Good nutrition is always the best way to go……Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It’s the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It’s excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!
Spicy foods will make the baby more active. Along with sugar and caffeine. But it’s not bad for the baby. If you don’t have any side effects, like heart burn, go ahead!
If you find that it makes the baby more active than usual I would keep spicy food to a minimum, it may aggravate the baby. But I had no problems, I endured the heartburn and ate what I wanted, no matter what I ate I had heartburn so enjoy as long as your doctor doesn’t say anything about it indulge….
no it will not hurt ur baby it willl just give u hate burn
hey girl eating spicy food or jalapenos are not bad i think it awakes your baby more. and it only causes heartburn that is about it but is not bad..i have 2 kids and expecting another one im 15 weeks preg. and i really crave for spicy things too…there is no good food with out chile girl…chile is the best…..
It will not harm your baby to eat spicy foods. That’s an old wives tale. If that is the food you want/crave go for it, Rolaids or Tums are acceptable for heartburn during pregnancy (check with your doctor just any case). If your husband will not let you eat it, ask him to provide proof that it is bad for the baby, or ask your doctor about it. Chances are he’ll tell you that it is fine.
I go thru the same thing my husband also tells me not to eat anything with "chile" but I crave it—–the only bad thing according to my dr. is the heartburn it may cause.
