Is heartburn a symptom of a hangover?
I don’t have any other typical hangover symptoms, no headache, no shakes, no sick stomach – nothing – just this incredibly painful, inconsistent pressure that comes and goes like heartburn, but without having eaten anything!! I’ve had it for two days now, it doesn’t matter if it’s before or after meals, morning, noon or night. And yes, I went drinking (rum and coke and whiskey and 7up) both nights…. but not fall-down-pass-out drunk…. just…. "happy" drunk! Any suggestions?!?!

Yes, if you’ve been drinking lots of acidic stuff (and rum, coke, whiskey and 7-up are all acidic) then you’ll be lucky to escape with no heartburn. It’s unusual for it to last for two days though. Take a few antacid pills and drink a load of water, and go and see a doctor if it doesn’t clear up in another 24 hours.
It’s not a hangover. It’s more likely Acid Reflux. Prilosec OTC…It works and you don’t need a prescription. One pill a day.

Yeah my hubby gets it all the time when he drinks. I personally don’t. Did you try Pepto? That works wonders for him!
Yes, it can be. The acid in the drinks you had is tearing your stomach. Drink lots of water!!!
Yes hearburn is caused from alcohol. Start taking tums before you drink heavily and also drink pleanty of water througout the day.
My fiance gets it all the time when he’s been drinking….he just takes a pepcid and drinks milk….seems to work for him
No heartburn is a stomace upset , it is cuased by over acidaty in the stomace.
You will get heartburn becuase the acid levels in achaol will increase the amount that you stomache can handle.
To avaoi heartburn after drinking , simply take a glass of milk prior to your drinking.
i used to alway get heartburn try gaviscon or rennie, its not a hangover girl but it could be the 7up
Probably acid reflux, but to diagnose it, go to a doctor, to be sure it isn’t heart failure…who on here is a doctor who would diagnose a problem on a web page?????? Not me!
It’s probably acid reflux. Try some of the over the counter meds like Zantac or Prilosec.
Many reasons may cause your heartburn, without other associating symptoms or specific disease. For example if you are bit fatty, you might have a sort of hiatus hernia (I mean prolapse or sliding of small part of your stomach into the chest through a small opening in the diaphragm called the hiatus), which in turn may cause heartburn.
There is another important cause that might cause heartburn and usually not in scope with Doctor’ examination. The para-nasal sinuses in infected or you have allergic sinusitis, post-nasal discharge will come there and you will in the most proper swallow it, and I think it is them most common cause of heartburn nowadays. The swallowing of the post-nasal discharge is very dangerous and usually causes inflammation of the distal portion of the esophagus, where is settles for a while until slide into the stomach. Distal esophagitis will occur and heart burn will be consequent.
There are many other causes for heartburn, but usually it occurs in association of other symptoms, like bitter taste of the mouth, bowel distention, abdominal pains and / or nausea.
