Is overeating the main cause of heartburn? If not, what is?

I just ate a 6-inch Subway Turkey Breast and Ham sandwich and a muffin with a cup of milk, but ended up getting heartburn afterwards. Why did that happen? Does it mean I overate?

Essentially, yes. Heartburn is what happens when your stomach has too much food in it and/or too much stomach acid. This can result in what is known as acid reflux, or what you know as heartburn. This is caused by a push of stomach acid and half-digested food up your throat, burning the inside of your esophagus. If this persists it can damage the inner lining of your esophagus. So basically, yes it is.
As for did you over eat….yes most likely, the sandwich probably packed your stomach to the max.
If you want to relieve heartburn, try drinking some water. If this does not help then take two tums. The best way to avoid heartburn is to watch what you eat. When you clean your plate, wait for a bit and you may realize that you are full or thirsty, not hungry. Hope i helped!
