she can buy gaviscon over the counter – I lived on it whilst pregnant with my son
try drinking milk. Its cools it down and makes u feel a lot better n takes the stinging. Gaviscon is also quite good and pregnant women can take it. but milk is what i use i drink about 2 -3 pints a day
I have heard that chewable papaya supplements are safe and effective, but she really should at least call her Dr. to discuss this.
TUMS is the best. And it’s ok to take during pregnancy. Just take them at the right time…..when ever you start to get heartburn just pop the TUMS. Although you’re not supposed to take more than 10 in 24 hours. Ok, this might sound stupid but when I chew this Orbit gum, my heartburn is less. Some people say that chewing gum keeps the acid down where it’s supposed to be and not up in your esophagus or throat! Here is the news story about chewing gum and heartburn.

Better check with your doctor first before you take that Mucogel.
tell her to try MUCOGEL it doesnt taste very nice but does the trick and is allowed to be taken when pregnant i had it good luck!!!!!( I GOT IT PRESCRIBED OFF MY DOCTOR).
I agree with Lilymae, milk is probably the best bet, if you look at things like tums etc.. they are made with calcium, so along with milk, try alot of calcium enriched foods, also try drinking seltzer water(different flavors) these are not harmful to the fetus and will promote belching, also tell her to stay away from things such as chocolate, nuts, hotdogs tomato sauces, these are great for heartburn.good luck, and i hope the baby is healthy and beautiful.
Try mashed potatoes. My Dr told me to try it cause is is heavy and weights down the stomach in such a way the acid can not come back up. She told me liquids espically water would make it worse. They helped me with all 3 of my pregencies.
