Heartburn Gerd Causes, Symptoms & Treatments Questions
Keeping your stomach sort of full all the time will eliminate heart burn, Drink some Fat free milk and do not eat 2 hours before you go to bed. Do not eat tomato saucy foods before you go to bed.
Also be care full, I have heard people complain about heart burn right before they experience a heart attack

milk its full of calcium..so are indigestion tablets
I would go the route of trying to figure out what triggers the heartburn and treating the cause.
Keep a diary of what you eat & drink to work out what aggrivates the condition.
Some sweets contain hidden ingredients that can cause problems. Biscuits are another. Pasty on pies. really any processed food can cause it.
I found that timing is also a factor for me – late night eating can lead to acid reflux/ heartburn.
You need to find the balance that works for you.
Try and avoid food that have ‘acid’ high on the label of ingredients. Fresh natural food is best – smaller portions to reduce bloating, will lead to a happer stomach.
Drink is another area that needs to be looked at. Try and drink some water each day. Before going to bed drink water rather than what you drink at the moment.
Heartburn is caused by excess acid in the stomach, I put a teaspoon of bicarb in a glass of squash or water, it helps neutrilise the acid. Might help you.
I have a huge problem with relfux/heart burn.
The way I have learn to cope is to try to eliminate the cause.
I have found that the following things will set it off:
acid foods such as tomato and pineapple
critrus friuts like oragnges and lemons
spicy foods, especially chilli
drinks containing caffine, like tea and coffee
some common remedies that don’t actually work are
1. drinking milk, it may contain calcium which in theory neutralises the acid, but the fat in the milk will increase the acid production in your stomach and so make the problem worse.
2. drinking or eatting peppermint. This does help to settle your stomach but at the same time it causes the valve at the top of you stomach to relax. this means that it is even more likely that acid will move from your stomach to the osphagus (where the pain is from).
If the problem occurs regularly it would be a very good idea to get checked out by a doctor. But I hope this helps you.
limu moui is absolutely wonderful for heartburn. my family and i used to go through about a bottle of tums/week. it was always on the grocery list. i started taking the limu 2oz two times a day in the morning and before bed and now i have a bottle of tums that i haven’t used in ages. if you would like more information please email me @ jeje451011@yahoo.com
good old fashioned milk will cure heartburn hunny. failing that you could try deflatine, its just like a mint. it will take away the heartburn, and release any trapped wind that is adding to your discomfort. hope that helps sweety. get well soon xx
well when i get heart burn i often drink herbal tea or hot water and lemon through out the day and cut back on fatty snacks, as this often can cause heart burn. you could also try a soft exercise routine eg walking at a slow pace for 20 mins every little helps! :-}

A glass of milk.
Ginger is great. I found this out when I was in hospital after having stomach surgery. Make up some ginger syrup using root ginger, sugar and water. Put about a teaspoon of the syrup in a cup and add hot water, drink. It works everytime and has no nasty additives. (it tastes good too!)
Heartburn can be caused by both to little or to much stomach acid. To check try taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with your main meal. If you get a warm feeling, tingling or discomfort then you have sufficient acid. If you get no sensatin then try doubling the dose the following day. If you still get no reaction try supplementing with digestive enzymes.
