Pregnancy – heartburn and vomiting at 33 weeks?
I had nausea and vomiting about 1-2 times per evening for the first 4 months of my pregnancy. Then i was ok. Now it seems that at 32-33 weeks my vomiting has returned combined with heartburn (thats why i am up at this time!!).
Is this normal? I am quite badly constipated – going about every 2-3 days – could that be causing this vomiting?
(This is my 2nd pregnancy – in my first i had nausea for almost the whole 9 months throughout but almost no vomiting at all. )

go see your dr. i was prescribed heartburn medication to help get a handle on mine- it was horrible from early on with my 2 girls, i think i was given prevacid, but don’t remember.
be careful what you eat, try to eat smaller meals more frequently, and get more fiber in your diet to help with the regularity, drink plenty of water, take walks. the heartburn could be causing vomiting, like a reflux issue. i would definetly see what your doctor could do for you. you have too many weeks to go to be miserable! best of luck and congrats!
I feel your pain with the heartburn and vomiting. With me it was so bad I drank 5 – 7 gallons of milk every week and tried tums because they said that was ok and the milk seemed to help for about a half hour and then it would all come back again. It got so bad that I couldn’t even sleep at all and was in horrible pain. I called my doctor and they gave me many different food suggestions to try and after trying everything they finally put me on heartburn medication. I don’t remember the name of it but it was a purple pill. I felt horrible taking it even though they said it was ok but I tried it and it was the best thing ever. It took away all the heartburn and I didn’t have any vomiting and it got to the point where I only had to take it every other day or every two days instead of every day as first prescribed. As far as the constipated issue I think that is very common come near the end and I don’t think that causes vomiting but I would check with your doctor. Good luck I hope you feel better soon.
you have my deepest sympathies with it. when i was carrying my 2nd child i suffered bad with the nausea and heartburn. i got gaviscon off my doctor which helped the heartburt but for the nausea i foung nibbling on ginger biscuits or drinking a fruit tea with ginger in it helped me with the sickness and the nausea. as for the constipation try using fibregel but see your doctor first and drink plenty of fluids lilke water and fruit juices.
i had this – it was a combination of gallstones and normal pregnancy. Gaviscon is fantastic for that but pregnancy can make an existiong gallstone problem worse so it may be worth asking your GP to check everything’s ok and if you’re in the UK get him to prescribe Gaviscon (Its free on prescription cos you should have a ,aternity exemmption certificate)
Sounds pretty normal. You can take Pepcid AC for the heartburn. That sounds help it some and might take away the vomiting. (some of my heartburn made me throw up)
in my first pregnancy i had vomiting every day through out even in labour and with my second it was just the early stage. Remember every pregnancy is different so there is no need to worry. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy
My vomiting and heartburn came and went throughout my entire pg – just when I thought I was ok back it would come!
You have all my sympathy – it is lousy.
Gaviscon was my best friend for 9 months – that and peppermint chewing gum which really helped with the nausea. Get those prunes down you to sort out the bottom end of things!
Best of luck – take comfort in the fact it won’t last forever.
