Hi Tari,
I had the same problem recently so I did a little research: heartburn is caused by several different factors such as certain foods, smoking or stress. To manage it you could try some of the following:
-frequent smaller meals instead of 3 large ones
-eat slowly
-eat at least 3 hours before bedtime as your last meal
-extra pillow at night to keep head elevated
-drink luke-warm water or herbal tea after dinner
-wear looser-fitting clothes
-avoid ‘trigger’ foods such as: chocolate (I know!), sugars, onion, citrus fruits / juices, peppermint, coffee, alcohol, fried and fatty foods, mustard, vinegar, tomatoes, spicy foods, processed meats
Hope this helps and good luck with your pregnancy!
For me id drink a glass of milk, works a treat.
Glass of milk always helps me. Or something of that nature, small bowl of icecream maybe?
milk can give you temporary relief. if you aren’t opposed to it you can take tums. i got really bad heartburn and took tums every night before bed and it let me fall asleep.
The only thing I found that helped my heartburn was sucking an Extra Strong Mint. Not exactly natural, or teeth friendly, but it certainly helped, even at night I kept a pack under my pillow, it would take the edge of it just long enough to allow me to go back to sleep.
Good luck.
i used to find a cup of boiled milk the best thing, better than any gaviscon, which incidentally it is ok to take in pregnancy – yr doc can give u prescription
Try herbal teas….peppermint, or ginger are really good for heartburn, and chamomlie will help you to sleep.
If you don’t fancy teas, then try disolving a couple of peppermint oil capsules in hot water, and sipping it, or even just try ginger ale. ( NOT ginger beer!!!)
hiya shug go to http://www.webmd.co.uk its the website what doctors etc use to check symptoms and remadies etc i find this very useful
glass of chocolate milk was the best remedy (also a great way to get your prenatal vitamin to go down and stay down)
And, I know you asked for natural remedies, but TUMs is completely safe in pregnancy and it’s just made of calcium, and it works really well.
I usually get heartburn every night so I go thru about 3/4 of a gallon of milk a night. Also I have started to take rolaids at night because it gets worse when I lay down.
Tums – calcium carbonate. Totally safe. Baking Soda in water helps too.
im having the same problem try a glass of milk with honey.goodluck
Yes the glass of milk works well but the trick is to drink it lying down with ur head above ur heart. So lie down and prop ur head up on a couple of pillows and drink
Heartburn begone! lol
milk even tho you dont fancy it, i had same trouble and didnt want to take any medican, its great and healthy for the baby! congrats btw
Try drinking a little milk when u get it i used to drink gallons i had heartburn really bad with both my kids thats the only natural one i got sorry good luck
You can try milk, when I had heartburn later in my pregnancy the doc prescribed Gaviscon, it worked a treat.
