what are the signs of GERD?

Symptoms include:
heartburn, burning chest pain, cough, belching, difficulty swallowing, nausea & regurgitation although a person seldom has all the symptoms.
Treatment can take from several weeks to a lifetime of treatment.
Prolonged heartburn is one of the symptoms. Length of treatment depends on the person – some have to stay on meds for 6 mos; others indefinitely.
