What is a good dish to make for someone with acidic reflux?

My mother-in-law has been suffering from acidic reflux (heartburn) for the past few days. She’s taking something for it, but it doesn’t always work. Also, if she eats anything with tomato sauce in it, the heartburn is horrible. Do you know a good dish I could make her to calm her tummy down? Something none acidic. Thanks!

I have suffered from acid reflux for 3 years, despite medication, and I agree with you that the answer lies in careful recipes.
All good are:
Vegetables, pulses, rice, plain meat, white fish, apples.
Home made soup, such as split pea, or leek and potato. I was surprised to find that homemade onion soup was good.
As far as possible everything homemade, because additives (and I cannot be sure which ones) are a factor.
Baked wholemeal bread, from the baker, rather than steamed or white.
Mango and papaya both are very good. Some people claim that papaya enzymes, from a Health Food Store, is the best cure for acid reflux.
Garlic is good, some people believe that a little chopped raw garlic everyday helps acid reflux. I prefer it as part of a meal.
I find that a plain roast meal with boiled rice is good.
Prawns with rice, garlic and olives, peas and herbs. This recipe generally has tomato but leave this out until reflux calms.
Avocado with crab, prawn and chopped hard boiled egg filling.
Jacket potato with cottage cheese and chives, or herb cheese.
All fresh herbs are good.
Herb tea, especially sweet fennel.
Foods to Avoid:
Acidic food: tomatoes, oranges, salad and salad dressing.
Check flour, it might be better to use rice flour or potato flour for a while.
Chips
Pasta
Pastry, although homemade can be ok.
Smoked meat or fish.
Canned tuna.
Curry–although turmeric itself is good, it is the other ingredients that are not so good.
Processed meat, such as Haslett, saveloy luncheon meat.
Also, it is helpful if your mother eliminates one food at a time, to see if that is a factor.
I have known people claim that a yeast free diet cured their acid reflux, see link below.
A lot of people say to lose weight, even if you are not very overweight.
Please refer to the website below, it might help you.
Chicken Alfredo.
Porkchops, mashed potatoes, and a steamed veggie.
Hamburgers.
You could also give Google a good ole search-a-roo for "low acid foods".
dairy based foods cause acid-reflux for me so anything non-dairy might be worth a try.
