What relationship does asthma have with GERD? Does GERD cause asthma or does asthma cause GERD?
I was just Curious. I was diagnosed with both and they gave me protonix 40mg x1 daily and they gave me a symbicort inhaler. I tried to just use the protonix and not the inhaler about three different times and usually about the third day I start coughing and wheezing real bad and feel like I am short of breath which the rescue inhaler and the symbicort inhaler start working after about 20 minutes. The protonix has stopped the horrible feeling and taste in my throat but I feel like I still have burning in my stomach, why is this? Is it because of my asthma?

Symbicort does not work if you take it sporadically. It is an inhaled steroid and is made to decrease inflamation over time. GERD can cause asthma if you inhale stomach contents when you sleep, some people do and they never realize it at the time. Maybe you need an evaluation to see if that is happening in your case.
