Heartburn Gerd Causes, Symptoms & Treatments Questions
i would say the tomato sauce, This is probably due to the high acidity amounts in tomato sauce. Try pizza without sauce, like what we call in ny "white slice". It has a ricotta, cream sauce instead of tomato, topped with mozzarella.
When I was pregnant, my doctor told me to stay away from greasy foods when I had heartburn. It is probably from the pepperoni, sausage, cheese, ect. depending on what you get on it.
you didn’t say what kind of a pizza. could be the tomatos, they’re very acidic. could be the onions, especially the ones that aren’t well cooked or that horrid green pepper the put on some pies.
personally, i think it’s the combination of dairy and acid.
just my opinion.
Tomato sauce is probably the most famous of causing heartburn in many people, but onions, spices don’t help either. Also, since pizzas are quite salty, we tend to drink larger volumes of liquid with it, which causes distension of the stomach and worsening of the regurgitation (reflux).
