Why do I get heartburn on a diet?

Whenever I count calories and eat less than I am used to, I always end up getting terrible heartburn and obviously being more hungry. I eat a healthy diet, I just eat around 1700 calories a day to lose weight. Is there any way to prevent this heartburn from not eating as much as I’m used to or will the heartburn go away when I get used to my diet?

Maybe try drinking more water or snacking more frequently?
If it persists, you may wish to see your doctor just in case you’re having a reaction to something that you eat on your diet that you wouldn’t otherwise eat.
